For the first time on my dad's birthday, I gifted him something that he had always loved.
Early 1990s
My dad had always been very fond of apples. I still remember the days when he would come and tell everyone in the family that he had gotten the best apples in the town. He saw it as some sort of elitist achievement. In those days apples were not readily available in Gujarat easily and even if they were, buying them was an expensive affair. Apple remains his favorite fruit till date.
Dad used to travel to Delhi for work or personal commitments very often. While in Delhi, he tried apple juice concentrate on someone's recommendation. The company had an outlet at New Delhi Railway Station in those days. In the years to follow, he would get these bottles home and use them judiciously to keep the stock going till another bottle/s arrived. For many many years of his life he drank the same apple juice brand religiously till doctors suggested him not to drink it because of high sugar content.
April 2026
I come across the apple juice brand, SAYB and he has been so happy drinking SAYB apple juice from the past 5-6 months.
One day he asked me:
महंगा तो नहीं है? बेटी से बार बार ऑर्डर करने के लिए कैसे बोल सकता हु।
Today, on his birthday, for the first time ever in my life that I gifted him something and the most appropriate gift seemed to apple juice bottles. Infact, I had never gifted him anything all my life.
Happy birthday dad! Cheers to many more years of your life with apple juice. By the way, mom has safely put them away in cupboard.

(Deep gratitude to each and everyone who sent their prayers and healing vibes to him over the past few weeks 🙏)
When customers ask why is Dal Makhni at 300 rs?
My inner instinct is to show them the rental receipts but my business obligation is to tell them we use better quality ingredients 😭
I think everything heals with time. The deluge of thoughts over a period of time become irrelevant and no more bother a person.Stay happy and blessed.

🚨Rishabh Mariwala-led Sharrp Ventures wants a bigger bite of India's regional snacks
Last month, the investment firm put around Rs 43 crore into Gujarat-based Jagdish Farsan, marking the snacks maker's first institutional fundraise. Sharrp is now looking to back more regional food and snack brands as it sees significant headroom for them to scale beyond their home markets.
Mariwala believes brands like these can increasingly travel beyond their home markets as consumers become more aware of regional food and seek products with a stronger sense of provenance.
That could mean backing brands from other parts of the country, too.
Mariwala cited traditional products such as Bihar's thekua and sattu-based foods as examples of regional categories that could find a larger audience and spaces Sharrp would spend time on.
With around 40 investments and roughly Rs 750 crore deployed across its direct and fund investments, Sharrp typically aims to invest between Rs 125 crore and Rs 150 crore a year from the family office of Harsh Mariwala, promoter of Marico, popular for brands such as Saffola, Parachute and several others.
And unlike investors chasing the next semiconductor, AI or deeptech opportunity, Mariwala is comfortable sticking to his area of expertise.
“It's a function of focus and excellence. It's our proprietary capital -- we can choose to do semiconductor, AI, fintech. We just choose not to,” he said. “We believe this space is what we understand, and this is what we know."
