@mrbartucz A5: How I plan to build equity outside of the classroom is by getting to know and being involved in the school's community. If I understand the local culture and community of my school, I can eventually bring that knowledge into the classroom. #PSTPLN@MrMonsonTech
@mrbartucz A4: I'm actually not very familiar with Twitter so I can't give a great example. However, after looking at the responses on the thread, I think I have some inspiration! #PSTPLN@MrMonsonTech
@mrbartucz A3: I wish we went more into detail on classroom management strategies and handling resistance. For example, in the class I'm observing, I've been experiencing some students who do not want to participate in activities or skip class. How do we approach these situations? #CI55307
@mrbartucz A2: I will use jamboard as a space for students to collectively share ideas in short, simple forms. Students can use media or text to express their thoughts. #CI5307@MrMonsonTech
@mrbartucz A1: Hi my name is Brenna. I'm in the science education cohort. One thing I want to focus on this year is providing many options (such as drawing or writing) regarding assignments/assessments. Having students show their understanding in ways that make sense to them is essential.
I thought it was interesting that the ISTE standards has both student and teacher standards. Here's a blog post about lesson planning using ISTE standards. I think it's pretty neat that they used Minecraft in this lesson plan!
Effective teaching in the science classroom will give students invaluable life skills that can be used inside and outside of the classroom. @MrMonsonTech#ci5307
I definitely think the life skills highlighted in the 21st Century framework are important to my teaching philosophy because realistically, not every student will walk out of a science class and become a scientist.
@grannyaliah@GoogleForEdu@MrMonsonTech I remember first using the Google platform (like docs/drive) in middle school. It's changed A LOT since then. I didn't realize Google classroom existed until I was working with educators during distance learning in 2020! Who knew Google could be more than a search engine! #ci5307
@stemmajor I definitely agree. Since we'll be working with kids that have used technology their entire lives, there's a chance they'll know more than we do! I'm certain there will be times that students will be helping me with tech skills like I have with teachers in the past. #ci5307
@XiongSalalalala@MrMonsonTech I love that! I remember having teachers having little talks about finances, life tips, etc between instruction of the material. These tangents were fun and useful! If time is an issue, maybe you could set up a group that meets after school to talk about these life skills? #ci5307
