California Governor Gavin Newsom is set to sign legislation recognizing two Muslim holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as state holidays and allowing public schools to celebrate their significance.

There are over 12 million Catholics in California, yet schools have no similar authorization to celebrate the religious significance of Christmas, Easter or Good Friday.

Text I just got from Fr. Ripperger that he asked me to put out there: "In your charity, please pray for Joyce Ripperger, mother of Fr. Chad Ripperger and who taught and fostered the strong devotion to Mary that Fr. Ripperger has, is in extremis that Our Lord may take her on the feast of the Assumption in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary." ("In extremis" means her final days or probably hours.)
