. @KawalaRachael "Two additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of Sydney Gongodyo, a professional rugby player, following an incident that occurred on 5 June 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Mugwiisa Obed and Owino Joseph, a security guard. Mugwiisa Obed was captured in video footage wearing a yellow T-shirt and carrying a large log during the incident. During interrogation, he led investigators to a local laundry (dobbi) where he had taken the yellow T-shirt he was seen wearing on the day of the attack. The garment was subsequently recovered as part of the ongoing investigations.
Their arrest brings the total number of suspects currently in custody to ten (10) as investigations into the alleged mob killing continue.
Efforts are ongoing to identify, trace, and apprehend other individuals believed to have participated in the incident.
We remain committed to ensuring that all those responsible for this criminal act are held accountable and brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
I met the EAC Secretary General, Stephen Patrick Mbundi, and his team at State Lodge Nakasero to discuss matters concerning the Community, including trade, infrastructure, staffing, health, financing, and regional integration.
As Chairperson of the EAC Summit, I emphasised the need to strengthen regional cooperation and accelerate the implementation of programmes that advance prosperity and integration for our people.
Fellow Ugandans, on this Heroes Day, we remember the immense sacrifices made by our people in the struggle for freedom. The 9th of June 1981 was chosen to represent the hundreds of thousands who were killed, especially in the Luweero Triangle. After the war, we collected skulls from 32 communal graves as a reminder of the atrocities our people endured.
When we went to the bush, Uganda was facing a profound crisis. The economy had collapsed, governance had broken down, insecurity was rampant, and for 18 years, Ugandans had been denied the opportunity to freely elect their leaders. Our objectives were therefore clear: restore democracy, guarantee security, expand and diversify the economy, and rebuild the country.
I thank the civilian and armed veterans who joined us in this struggle and helped achieve these goals. I also salute the families of those heroes who are no longer with us. The challenge before us now is economic transformation and ensuring that every household joins the money economy.
We extend heartfelt tribute to all Ugandan heroes whose courage and dedication continue to uphold our nation’s stability and progress. We remain inspired by their legacy of service and sacrifice in protecting the people of Uganda.

. @mkituuma "We strongly condemn all acts of mob justice. Such actions are unlawful, undermine the rule of law, and often result in the loss of innocent lives.
We urge members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands under any circumstances. Where a suspect is apprehended, they should be handed over to the nearest police station or relevant authorities without being subjected to torture, assault, or any other form of harm.
The public is reminded that participation in mob action constitutes a serious criminal offence and may attract charges, including murder.

“You cannot say that you have Shs158 billion to purchase cars for MPs and then claim that you do not have Shs 28 billion to pay medical interns’ allowances, with the excuse that it would crush the economy. By the way, doctors are rarely in the hospitals. It is the medical interns who are everywhere doing the donkey work,” Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu

This afternoon, I officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for Kidepo International Airport in Karenga District.
I reminded the wananchi that Karamoja has come a long way from the days of insecurity, cattle rustling and lawlessness. The restoration of peace has created the conditions for the Karamoja region to develop.
The airport will improve access to Kidepo Valley National Park, boost tourism, attract investors, create jobs for our young people and expand markets for local products. Already, more than 1,600 Ugandans are employed on the project.
I thank our partners from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates for recognizing the immense opportunities that exist in Uganda and Africa.
Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Tomorrow, at 2:00 p.m., I will address the nation on the state of our country and the progress we continue to make.
Please join me live on TV, radio, and social media platforms.
