Honestly, I support the arrest and deployment of all these street beggars. If you're a northerner/muslim and you pass them in almost all the southern states, you'd feel ashame. This is something that Islam has condemned and we must also condemn it. Let them go back to their states and let their governors cook them and eat, if they can't cater for them.
BREAKING: At least 17 people have been killed in Dangulbi, Tureta LGA of Sokoto State after heavily armed bandits stormed the community during Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Among the victims were 7 visitors who had travelled to Dangulbi to spend the festive period with their families. The attackers reportedly looted shops, displaced residents and left the community in mourning instead of celebration.
The latest attack adds to growing concerns over persistent insecurity across Nigeria, where civilians continue to bear the brunt of armed violence.
How many more lives must be lost before communities can celebrate in peace and security?
Three weeks ago, my 23-year-old neighbor was kidnapped on her way to Kontagora in Niger State.
While in captivity, the bandits repeatedly raped her taking turns sleeping with her night after night. Still, they kept bargaining with her father over the phone, demanding ransom even as they violated her.
Her father fought with everything he had. He hustled day and night, borrowed from everyone, took loans, sold whatever he could determined to bring his daughter home.
When he finally gathered the full amount, he called the bandits and begged them, ‘Please, give the phone to my daughter. Let me speak to her. I want her to know I’m coming for her.’
They gave her the phone.
In a broken, traumatized voice, she told her father: ‘Dad, do not suffer yourself looking for the money. They have been sleeping with me. I’m traumatized. I can’t forgive myself. Even if I’m released, I’ll kill myself. Don’t bother paying the ransom.’
Those were the last words she ever spoke to him.
While her father was still holding the phone, he heard the gunshot. He heard his daughter being killed. Moments later, the bandits sent pictures of her remains to him, a final act of cruelty.
A 23-year-old girl. My neighbor. Someone’s daughter, someone’s sister, someone’s friend gone in the most horrific way possible.
This is not just one story. This is the nightmare too many families are living in Niger State and across Nigeria. Young women snatched on the roads, violated, used as bargaining chips, and discarded like nothing.
Living in Nigeria has become truly scary. You wake up, you step out, and you don’t know if you or your loved ones will return home. The fear is constant. The pain is constant. And too often, justice never comes.
Rest in peace to my neighbor.
Early this year In one the local government election cases we handled, a witness said he can identified his witness statement by his name and signature and obviously he couldn't read and write. Under Cross examination I showed him his witness statement to confirm if it is his
In one of the cases I handled in June 2022, I did not bother to cross-examine the witnesses in the matter.
The Defendant was charged with being a member of an unlawful society. About four police officers from the Anti-Cultism Unit, SCID, Benin City, testified in the matter. I remember the (expression of) shock on the faces of the Court and the Prosecutor when I decided not to exercise my right to cross-examine the witnesses.
The section provides that before a charge is preferred against a Defendant, the consent of the Attorney General must be sought and obtained.
From the proof of evidence and throughout the trial, the above step was not taken by the Police before arraigning the Defendant in Court.
At the close of the prosecution's case, I raised the issue of jurisdiction, and the case died a natural death.
I am sure if there were observers in the court during the trial, they would have said I did not have the necessary skills to cross-examine the witnesses.
The truth is, a Lawyer handling a matter is the master of (the) facts and laws. You may only appreciate the strength of his or her strategy when you read the judgment.
@_youfoundalex Inec may chose not to recognise the nomination of the candidate on that ground and if the party approaches the court, inec may claim he is not a registered member
Forgotten Sunnah: Wake up at Night, Recite this Dhikr and seek Forgiveness:
Narrated ‘Ubada bin As-Samit: The Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-said:
“Whoever gets up at night and says:
‘There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah Alone, He has no partners, He has the Dominion and for Him is all praise, and He is capable of all things, praise is for Him, and Far is Allaah from imperfection, and There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah, and Allaah is the Greatest, there is no capability nor is there any power except with Allaah.
Then he says :
اللهمَ اغْفِرْلي
O Allaah forgive me (Allaahumma aghfirlee), or he supplicates and his supplication is answered, and if he makes Wudu and prays then his prayer is accepted.

@The_Ogundipe Thus, an evidence on Oath will not be worthy of belief were witnesses called by the petitioner, who were at the different places at the same time, claimed to have heard, seen and done exactly the same thing, without any discrepancies in their respective evidence.
Dear @channelstv@ARISEtv@tvcnewsng@NTANewsNow, please when next you go for a media briefing with FCT Minister @GovWike, kindly ask him about the following:
1. Cows taking over roads, now including highways, in Abuja
2. Waste collection and mountains of refuse in various parts of town
3. Swarms of young children, who should be in school, begging at traffic lights and junctions under the supervision of adults sitting under nearby trees.
4. The pandemic of driving “one-way” against traffic.
5. Aggressive street traders, especially the ones selling windscreen wiper blades, who insist on putting their hands on your windscreen.
6. All commercial vehicles, including Keke, that believe that traffic lights don’t apply to them.
Others may have other things to add but it would be good to get answers to these first.
Thank you.
The city was not designed for pedestrians. You can’t take walks alone or with your pets. The city has no public transportation system. It’s a city for politicians to stay away from the rubbish they have going on in the other 36 states.
