Yes, hold your governor to account but don’t forget that the Federal Government still consumes 52% of our resources. 36 state governors only share 28% and 774 LGAs only share 20%. Even if states were to control all LGA funds, that would still be 48% divided among 36 governors while the Federal Government alone consumes 52%.

That’s why the Federal Government can afford to triple the number of agencies it has since the Oronsaye Report from 541 in 2012 to more than 1600 in 2016. That is why the Federal Government can even afford to have fake agencies.

When I was in government, we did a nationwide survey that showed that 70% of Nigerians said that they had never been consulted on what should go into the federal or state budgets.

However, there was a year when women in Kano got together, made a list of what they wanted to see in the budget and presented it to the state government. Believe it or not, a lot of their suggestions actually found their way into the budget.

Civil society groups could actually do this, as could professional associations like the NBA, ICAN and COREN. They may not listen but make the demands first and let the governments say No, especially in an election year.

Too many Ground handling incidents that involve APK aircraft. The quality assurance unit needs to step up their audit and hazard prevention measures. They should insist on drugs and alcohol testing for the handling company staff and also check equipment serviceability more often

The dollar stability we enjoyed over the years will be history with Dangote Refinery now selling PPs to marketers in dollar.

I am not sure whether the Crude-In-Naira transaction has ended. If it has, then Dangote has no option but to also sell in dollars as he is buying most of raw materials, including crude, in dollar.

Daily dollar demand will skyrocket exponentially. Not going to be healthy for the economy.
