We're incredibly proud to see Dada Devs builders making their mark at @btcplusplus Nairobi, contributing to projects tackling some of Bitcoin's most important challenges—from privacy and open-source development to financial access, developer reputation, and funding innovation.
Across the hackathon, Dadas helped build projects that didn't just participate—they stood out.
🏆 Out of 37 competing projects, teams featuring Dada Devs secured multiple awards and top placements:
We are glad to announce that our team and community members will be fully represented at the @btcplusplus in Nairobi this week 🥳🥳🥳
From peer leads and open-source contributors to software developers and community builders, these are some of the women representing Dada Devs at one of the most respected Bitcoin technical gathering.
As they join conversations, share insights, and connect with builders from around the world this week, they carry with them the spirit of Dada Devs: learning openly, building boldly, and creating space for more women in Bitcoin and open source.
We're proud of how far they've come and even more excited about what's ahead.
Go represent, Go learn, Go build. Go Dadas.

Learning doesn’t always have to happen behind a screen, in a classroom, or through endless slides.
Sometimes, the best way to understand Bitcoin is to become the network itself.
Last Saturday at the DadaHub, our Dadas stepped into the Bitcoin protocol through a Live Action Role Play (LARP) session led by our founder, @marcelorraine, in collaboration with @base58school and @niftynei.
And what started as a learning exercise quickly became something much bigger.
There were moments of intense concentration as teams raced to verify transactions, protect the network, and outsmart each other. There were moments of fierce competition too. At one point, the room felt less like a workshop and more like a championship final. Nobody wanted to lose.
(Although rumours suggest the real motivation may have been avoiding a certain karaoke performance after the session. 😭)
But that’s the magic of experiences like these.
People arrived to learn Bitcoin. They left understanding it.
Not because they memorised definitions, but because they experienced the protocol in action.
The laughter was constant. The debates were loud. The strategy sessions were serious. And somewhere between acting as nodes, miners, and wallets, abstract concepts suddenly became real.
And because Bitcoin is ultimately about people, not just technology, we ended the day sharing something equally important: our stories.
From our tribal showcase, where Dadas introduced each other to the beauty and uniqueness of their cultures, to a karaoke session that proved enthusiasm is far more important than vocal talent, the day reminded us that community is built in moments like these.
Moments where strangers become friends.
Where learning becomes memorable.
Where women interested in Bitcoin realise they are part of something bigger than themselves.
This is what Bitcoin Dada has always been about.
Not just education.
Belonging.
Here’s a short recap of how the day went down. 💛
And if you missed this one... let's just say you’ll want to be at the next LARP session.
Photos coming soon, so stick around.

Saturday, the 16th, will be a day to remember. 🧡
We celebrated our fourth year anniversary, graduated Cohort 9 & 10 of Bitcoin Dada and Cohort 3 of @DadaDevs — and without even fully realizing it at the time, we convened 102 women in one room for what is probably the first physical Bitcoin event in Africa attended entirely by women.
And that alone is history!!

A week after the conference, we couldn’t be prouder of our involvement at the Africa Bitcoin Conference 🇲🇺.
This year was monumental for us. Through the ABC partnership, we were able to fly in 13 female fellows representing five African countries (Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Ghana). The cohort included developers, community builders, educators and enthusiasts — many of whom would not have had access to such an opportunity without this partnership.
The fellows participated in carefully curated workshops hosted by various organizations, engaged in meaningful networking sessions, and attended talks by accomplished Bitcoiners — many of whom they had previously only encountered online. For several of them, this marked their first opportunity to experience the global Bitcoin ecosystem in person.
The highlight of the week was the Women in Building workshop, a space that brought together both women and men to engage in honest conversations about the realities and complexities of navigating a male-dominated field. It was a powerful and necessary dialogue rooted in lived experience, collaboration, and solution-oriented thinking.
We were honored to be joined by exceptional leaders including @IamMissNabs , Director at @AfroBitcoinOrg ; @DecentraSuze , Co-founder of @bitcoinpolicyuk ; @IamWhiteSarah , General Manager at @afribitcoiners ; and @amizi , Founder of @waye_dev .Their insights made the session both grounding and transformative.
We are equally grateful to the men who showed up, some out of curiosity, others in solidarity and who actively engaged with the ideas and solutions shared on how to support and grow female participation in Bitcoin across their respective jurisdictions. Special appreciation goes to @BTCsessions , @lucasdcf@bernard_parah , and @megasley@briimhd for their presence and support.
Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to our founder @marcelorraine for being the bridge, and to @Farida_N for believing in the value of women as builders, leaders, and contributors to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
This experience reaffirmed why this work matters and why it must continue.

Something beautiful happened across East and West Africa. The same #Bitcoin wallet curriculum was being taught simultaneously in three countries - participants in #Nairobi, #Lagos, and #Kampala all learning identical lessons about hot vs cold storage, multisig security, and Lightning transactions.
The energy was electric in each room - that mix of curiosity and determination you see when people realize they're about to take control of their own money for the first time. In Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda, dozens of hands were reaching for phones, ready to download their first real Bitcoin wallets using the same proven step-by-step process.
