Devastating. Hargeysa main market, the city centre is all gone. 100.000s poeple lost their livelihood within few hours. It's so heartbreaking. #Somaliland was already struggling with the effect of the drought. ๐
Honored & delighted to welcome to Washington H.E. @abdirahmanirro, President of the Rep. of #Somaliland, as he begins a visit to the #USA๐บ๐ฒ, wishing him, his delegation & U.S. rep @baruud well in the upcoming meetings & engagements with American officials & other stakeholders.
#BREAKING: President Abdirahman Cirro, currently abroad, shared these photos on his official Facebook page, sending warm greetings to the people of #Somaliland and wishing them peace, prosperity, and well-being.
To my fellow citizens of the Republic of Somaliland, home & abroad, I extend my sincere greetings and appreciation, and convey my best wishes for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity.
Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead.
We also exchanged views on the regional situation and reaffirmed our shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination.
@netanyahu
So the African Union is holding an "emergency session" on Israel's recognition of Somaliland. More useless hot air and carbon dioxide; zero results. Some members petrified of their own mistreated regions going their own way. Try providing justice to all!

Thank you Senator Ted Cruz for your leadership in calling for U.S. recognition of #Somaliland.
This step aligns with our shared interest in strengthening regional cooperation and democratic governance. Somaliland is a peacefull, trusted partner in a region vital to global trade and counter-terrorism
We deeply appreciate H.E. @gidonsaar for this historic visit, the first by a foreign minister to Somaliland in 34 years. His commitment to strengthening ties between Somaliland and Israel marks the beginning of a promising partnership grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and common goals for peace and prosperity.
We thank the Foreign Minister of the State of Israel for his historic visit to Somaliland following recognition. This visit sends a clear message: SomalilandโIsrael relations are not symbolic, but evolving into a comprehensive strategic partnership. Somaliaโs false claims do not change the reality on the groundโthis is our land and we govern it. This relationship is intended to advance economic development, peace, and regional stability. #SomalilandRecognition
@TiborPNagyJr Maybe because if rump #Somalia๐ธ๐ด were not a failed state, its political elites would not be able claim refugee status in the #USA๐บ๐ธ & enrich themselves through defrauding American taxpayers โ exhibit #1, the unelected Mogadishu regimeโs man at the #UN๐บ๐ณ.๐

I see Mogadishu is having a snit-fit over the visit to Hargeisa by Israel's Foreign Minister. I've said before - instead of trying to make Somaliland fail, why doesn't Somali Govt focus on making their own country a viable, functioning, secure nation?

Today, at the Presidential Palace, I received
@gidonsaar H.E. Mr. Gideon Saโar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, and a high-level delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Somaliland, the first such visit by a foreign minister in 34 years after recognition. I conveyed my deep appreciation to the Government of Israel for its historic and courageous decision of 26 December 2025 to formally recognize the Republic of Somaliland. This milestone reflects a relationship founded on mutual respect and shared interests, aimed at cooperation and stability without prejudice to any party.
I emphasized that this recognition opens a new chapter of formal diplomatic relations, security, economic, and development cooperation, serving the mutual interests of both nations and contributing positively to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
I also reaffirmed that Somaliland is a reliable and responsible partner, strategically positioned and committed to advancing regional and international peace, security, and constructive engagement.

It's a great privilege to conduct the first official diplomatic visit to Somaliland, at the invitation of President @Abdirahmanirro.
The visit is also a message: We are determined to vigorously advance relations between Israel and Somaliland.
Today, we held substantive discussions with the President and senior members of his government on the full range of our relations.
The mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries are not directed against anyone. Our shared objective is to promote the mutual benefit of both nations and countries.
In Hargeisa, I made it clear:
Only Israel will decide whom it recognizes and with whom it maintains diplomatic relations.
The President of Somaliland informed me that he has accepted @IsraeliPM Netanyahuโs invitation and will pay an official visit to Israel.
