He smiled, recalling long raths traversing the state with #NyayYoddha Rahul by his side. Their bonhomie and message of #socialjustice cut across barriers, helping forge a winning alliance.

Farmers, youth, marginalised communities (OBC, SC ) and Muslims responded in droves to their vision of inclusive development for all. Akhilesh's grassroots connect merged with Rahul's principled #national appeal.

Their shared passion was evident throughout grueling campaigns under the murderous May #Sun. Akhilesh admired Rahul's iron resolve to save #Constitutional ethos despite dirty slurs.

Both men endured scathing barbs yet stayed focused on real issues over pseudo-nationalism.

History would remember this as a #watershed - a decisive moment people rose as one to defend democracy and #samvidhan. This is the first Parliamentary elections for Akhilesh in the absence of his father and legendary socialist leader #MulayamSinghYadav. And, he would be proud of his final tally of around 35 seats while remembering #Netaji.

Such esults have cemented @samajwadiparty position in state politics ahead of the Assembly battles in 2027. The party stands resurrected today.

Smiling warmly, he knew the best was truly yet to come.

During the Social Justice Conference #Rashtriya_Samvidhaan_Sammelan in Lucknow, @DrJaihind #DrAnilJaiHind played a significant role as the showman of the event. In his introduction of @RahulGandhi on stage, he referred to him as "Nyay Yoddha" (Warrior of Justice) and "Jan Nayak" (People's Leader), highlighting his perceived role in championing social justice issues.

Dr. Anil JaiHind shared a personal anecdote during his address, tracing his family's background as cattle herders belonging to the milkman (#Gwala) community, which historically faced caste discrimination. He highlighted how his father's access to education enabled him to become a teacher, and how Dr. JaiHind himself became a doctor. He further mentioned that his daughter is a doctor in America, symbolizing the #social_mobility his family achieved through #education.

Dr. JaiHind credited the #Constitution, written by Babasaheb Ambedkar, for providing the opportunities and equality that enabled his family's social progress. He emphasized that the Constitution broke the shackles of caste-based slavery and paved the way for social upliftment.

The BJP and the #NarendraModi government have been seeking a three-fourths majority vote to potentially amend the Constitution. This assertion implies concerns about potential changes that may impact the principles and protections enshrined within the Constitution.

During his speech at the social justice conclave in #Lucknow, #RahulGandhi emphasized the importance of #safeguarding the Constitution of India. In fact, he held a copy of the Constitution with a red cover while delivering his address, symbolising his commitment to upholding its principles.

#RahulGandhi acknowledged that the #Congress party had made mistakes in the past by not fully understanding the aspirations of the #OBC, #SC, and #ST communities, who constitute a significant portion of the population (approximately 90 percent of the people). Amidst a huge round of applause from the audience Rahul emphasized that without the #empowerment of the backward communities, India cannot achieve the status of a superpower, implying that inclusive growth and upliftment of marginalized sections are essential for the country's overall progress.

To the great delight of secular and concerned audience Rahul Gandhi stated that #NarendraModi would not be able to secure a third term as Prime Minister. Additionally, he referred to Modi as a #monarch rather than a democrat.

Almost every sensible person is calling out the dangerous and factually incorrect rhetoric used by incumbent PM @narendramodi.

Referring to Muslims or any community as "infiltrators" is factually wrong and amounts to irresponsible #HateSpeech from a Prime Minister. In desperation, he sounds like a #Hatemonger.
He promotes a divisive us vs them narrative and otherization of #Muslims, which has discriminatory effects.

#BJP seems to be resorting to fearmongering based on #Islamophobia as their election position weakens after Phase 1 polling.

In contrast, @INCIndia's #SocialJustice focus on marginalized communities through policies like #caste_census is gaining traction. Precisely, Modi & his feudal lords are frightened about this very policy instrument that could lay bare the lopsided economic inequality story. He is afraid of social equity in the favour of OBC, SC and ST. As a consequence, he is spreading misinformation about pro-Muslim slant, contrary to popular perception of the #CongressManifesto.

#Scaremongering through targeted rhetoric against minorities shows BJP is losing ground on real issues of development. As the highest elected leader, #NarendraModi has a duty to bring people together through inclusive development, not divide them. Sadly, he had always been doing the opposite in his entire political innings.

#Voters in the #LokSabhaElections2024 should reject such polarizing tactics aimed at masking the real issues of price rise, unemployment facing all citizens.

As an impartial statesman, Modi should refrain from factually incorrect speculations and instead focus on developmental governance for all. However, he has forfeited the reputation of being a statesman.

Imran Khan's political journey and the evolution of his strategy can be understood from the fact that in previous general elections of 2018 he was looking for electable candidates. Five years later in #PakistanElections2024, #ImranKhanPTI has created electables. What a powerful political leadership!

In 2018, Imran depended on traditional electables joining his @PTIofficial party for seats.

However, this proved short-sighted as many turned coats without ideological commitment to his agenda. For 2023, Imran brilliantly decided to directly groom and support a new generation of candidates from ordinary backgrounds.

By fielding hundreds of candidates as independents backing #PTI, he organically grew his own pool of "electables" with loyalty to the cause.

This demonstrated vision, planning and political acumen to systematically challenge dynastic power structures.

@ImranKhanPTI overturned conventional wisdom that one needs established politicians to win elections.

His ability to connect with the public and mobilise grassroots support has made him truly the most influential leader in Asia.

Despite facing immense adversity, Imran's leadership and message have only strengthened, thanks to the unflinching belief of millions of Pakistanis.

Needless tosay, Imran proved that with strong principles and organisational skills, one can reshape the political landscape from the ground up.

My meeting with the noted socialist leader #Raghu_Thakur

It was a privilege to spend four hours closely listening to the immense political experiences and insights shared by 79-year-old socialist stalwart Raghu Thakur.

Born in sagar district of MadhyaPradesh on 10 June 1946, he renounced his landlord privileges to work under iconic socialist leader #DrRammanohar_Lohia at a young age.

Raghu had close associations with other prominent socialist leaders like Narendra Dev, JP, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Karpoori Thakur, George Fernandes and #MulayamSinghYadav.

He played a key role in the careers of leaders like Sharad Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav, arranging tickets and helping form the Samajwadi Party.

-However, he parted ways with #MulayamSinghYadav in 1996 over the latter prioritizing corporate influence, displaying his commitment to principles over power.

Today, at an advanced age, he tirelessly travels the country as a "nomad" to spread the message of socialist thought through public lectures.

He told me, "Lohia laid the foundations of social justice politics in North India through his struggles for marginalised communities.

His efforts created room for the emergence of numerous OBC/Dalit leaders like Sharad Yadav, Lalu Prasad, Karpoori Thakur, Mulayam Singh, Nitish Kumar, Kanshiram, Ramvilas Paswan, etc.

Post-Lohia era saw these leaders and their parties like SP, RJD form strong governments in UP and Bihar. However, over time their focus drifted from core socialist ideology of equitable development and empowerment.

The emphasis on empowering OBCs via reservations/quotas alone wasn't enough and got reduced to tokenism. As a result, issues of marginalised communities weren't fully addressed, leaving space for BJP-RSS to step in.

Narendra Modi's BJP capitalized on the disconnect and religious polarization by focussedly furthering their Hindutva agenda.
This reading of history enabled BJP-RSS' electoral rise in the Hindi heartland over the last decade or so."

In essence, Raghu feels post-Lohia parties #diluted socialism, aiding #Hindutva rise.

Raghu Thakur remains one of the last surviving giants of India's socialist movement, upholding its ideals of egalitarianism and justice.

It was a deeply enriching experience to directly learn from this living inspiration of principled politics.

It was past midnight in a small village near Peshawar. A group of young Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI supporters stealthily patrolled the deserted streets under the cover of darkness.

"Hurry, we don't have much time," whispered Ali as he handed out rolls of posters to his comrades. Their improsoned leader Imran Khan had asked them to spread the message however they could.

Quietly, they went to work. Farhat climbed a tall Eucalyptus tree and began pasting Imran's face among its trunks, lit up only by the faint glow of his mobile torch.

Nearby, Jawad tackled a sturdy neem, carefully sticking posters between its rough barks.

The authoritarian regime had banned all overt campaigning for PTI. But these youth were battle-hardened in the fight for democracy and justice.

If denied banners, they would find walls. If not walls, then trees would be their canvas.

Within an hour, the whole village and town had sprouted Imran Khan face from its green landscape.

The authorities could tear down structures, but not cut every tree. Smiling in the dark, the boys knew their leader's message had been spread once more, through routes unblocked by the oppressors.

Come 8 February, election day, even #nature would campaign for change in Pakistan's fate. And that was enough to keep hope of a free future alive.

The attack on veteran socialist leader #SwamiPrasadMaurya convoy in Kaushambi must be condemned by everyone in the strongest of terms.

Maurya has been a vocal proponent of social justice and Dalit empowerment through his speeches and work. His recent campaign against obscurantism has further threatened the dominance of entrenched regressive interests.

The alleged involvement of Hindu Jagran Manch suggests this was not a random act but a targeted attack to silence Maurya's anti-caste voices.

@SwamiPMaurya's popularity and influence among marginalised communities would have unnerved feudal forces clinging to power through caste divisions.

His message of social equality directly challenges oppressive Manuvadi ideologies patronized by radical right-wing groups.
Physical assault is a brazen tactic to instill fear in democratic discourse and deter progressive leaders.

It becomes crucial for democratic institutions and masses to strongly condemn and counter such attempts at curbing dissent.

The opposition need to turn this incident into a pressure point on issues of social justice and democratic values.

The impactful Hindi poem recited by #MaharashtraPolitics #NCP MP Dr. Amol Kolhe in Parliament is viral nowadays.

Through creative satire, he critiqued the #NarendraModi #BJP government for using Ram Mandir event solely for electoral gains.
As he climbed the temple steps, his mind wandered to the harsh realities of price rise, joblessness, inequality and agrarian crisis.

Praying to Lord Ram for answers, he imagined Ram reminding him the current era belongs to the #Constitution. Implying that in #TretaYug, Ram ruled but in #Kaliyug the Constitution is supreme and must be upheld.

This was a subtle message that #RamRajya ideals lie in upholding constitutional values of justice, not pageantry. Rightly pointing out that #salvation lies in adhering to the Constitution to alleviate people's suffering.

Quite a political stunt by BJP in the centenary year of socialist leader!

The significance of #KarpooriThakur's legacy and the need for today's social justice leaders to emulate his values of integrity, honesty and commitment to the cause...

Karpoori Thakur was a towering leader who fought tirelessly for social emancipation through constitutional means in the 1970s and '80s of the twentieth century in the Hindi heartland bellwether state like #Bihar.

Due to ideological erosion and lack of principled leadership in his successors after the Mandal politics, the social justice movement lost momentum in recent decades.

#BJP is opportunistically honouring him now in an attempt to woo the Barber community, especially Extremely Backward Castes in the OBC not out of real respect for his socialist ideals. However, #NarendraModi's government decision to award #BharatRatna posthumously to #Karpoori is a shrewd political strategy.

Karpoori's spotless character and devotion to empowering the oppressed through political agency remains an inspiration.

Contemporary leaders, backed by massive Bahujan support, need to stay true to his valores of transparency and serving the deprived castes selflessly. Getting mired in scams and scandals and diverting from the core cause has weakened the social justice struggle.

If today's heroes emulate Karpoori Thakur's sincerity and conviction, they can certainly push for change at the national level.

The overwhelming Bahujan population remains largely unaware and needs committed leadership to realise its political potential.

Reviving Karpoori Thakur's guiding spirit of honesty and principle-driven politics holds the key to resurrecting the movement.

After the implementation of reservation for backward classes in Bihar, people who abused #JanNayak Karpoori Thakur are today honouring former Bihar CM with #BharatRatna. This is the victory of social justice ideals.

Karpoori Thakur served two terms as the 11th Chief Minister of Bihar, first from December 1970 to June 1971, and then from June 1977 to April 1979.

In Bihar, Karpoori's upper caste anti-reservation critics had coined a derogatory slur to ridicule him.

A meeting with @RahulGandhi at 10 Janpath in New Delhi.

It was a bright sunny morning at 10 Janpath as our small group of social justice warriors drawn from across the country engaged eagerly with @INCIndia veteran leader #RahulGandhi on the sprawling lawn. Dressed casually, Mr Gandhi exuded warmth and humility despite his stature.

Rahul listened intently, occasionally posing thoughtful questions as we shared grassroots challenges. His grasp of complex social justice issues was evident.

Rahul visibly empathized with concerns of OBC, SC, ST and minorities, especiallyMuslims. "Equal opportunity for all remains our founding promise yet to be fulfilled," he remarked introspectively.

As the sun rose higher, our discussion touched on political strategies as well. Rahul passionately articulated his vision of an inclusive India with proportional representation that leaves no one behind.

By his physical poise and mental acuity despite a hectic schedule, it was clear that Rahul takes excellent care of himself. Yet there was no trace of ego or arrogance.

He wore a Olive green half-sleeve jacket over a light blue full sleeve round neck T-shirt.

The jacket seemed well-worn but well-kept, reflecting Rahul's pragmatic style. It allowed ease of movement for the energetic interactions.

He paired it with military-style trousers that ended above his ankles. A pair of simple brown sandals completed the ensemble.

As we began talking, Rahul listened closely, occasionally intervening. He expressed concern over the continued social #Apartheid faced by #OBC, #SC and #ST communities in India.

Rahul spoke of the structural barriers these groups encounter in education, employment and political representation. How poverty and prejudice continue to exclude vast sections despite constitutional safeguards.

He was passionate about the need for proportional representation and affirmative action policies to empower the marginalised. Only then, Rahul emphasized, can India truly realize the dream of an equal and just society for all its citizens.

His attire and delivery reflected Rahul's focus on substance over superficialities. It was evident he has deeply reflected on inclusive development and social justice matters, especially caste census.

As we departed energized after positive discussions, I realised Rahul has undoubtedly matured into a leader who understands the changing public pulse and is committed to bringing fairness to one and all. His embrace of social justice ideals ahead of crucial #2024loksabhapolls left me impressed.

The bold political stand taken by the Congress party over #RamTemple consecration ceremony is a head turner and a pragmatic move.

The #Congress has sent a stern message to the BJP by declining to attend the #RamMandirPranPratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya. Led by #SoniaGandhi and @kharge, the party has refused to be drawn into the #BJP's political game of communal polarisation through the idol consecration event.

By rejecting the invitation respectfully but firmly, @INCIndia has communicated that it will not legitimize the blatant politicisation of religion underway.

While millions rever #Ram, the BJP-RSS have long exploited the temple issue to further a divisive agenda alone.

This bold rebuff indicates Congress' commitment to maintaining #Secularism and plurality even in the face of aggressive #Hindutva.

At a time when other opposition parties appear subdued, the grand old party has emerged as a voice steadfastly defending constitutional ethos.

By keeping religion separate from politics, Congress aims to bring focus back on people's real issues - jobs, development and social justice for deprived communities.

Our visit to #Ambedkar Park on New Year's Day:

The afternoon sky was overcast as we made our way to Ambedkar Park on January 1st, 2024. The air was filled with excitement and optimism as a new year dawned. A brisk winter chill hung in the air, with no sun rays warming the day.

Massive crowds had gathered at the sprawling urban oasis in the heart of Lucknow, bundled up in jackets, shawls and caps.. Families, friends and couples milled about the shining marbled lawns, clicking photos against the scenic backdrop. The buzz of conversations echoed across the park, keeping spirits high despite the dreary weather.

My sweetheart Fermina held our son Marcos' hand tightly as we navigated through the enthusiastic throngs. Towering sandstone pillars of social transformation demarcated the spacious grounds.

The centrepiece drew everyone's eyes - a statue of Dr. Ambedkar, towering over the enclave named in his honour. Around it stood tributes to the giants of India's social reform movement and other unsung heroes who battled prejudice with perseverance.

Selfie sticks were out in force as people commemorated the new beginnings under the auspices of these icons of justice and change. The multilingual buzz of the crowd conveyed unity in diversity, hope for our shared future.

It was a joyous start to 2024, paying homage at this inspiring oasis that reminds us change rises from empowering each other, however long the journey. A vision for an equal India burns steady as the flame of this enclave.
