Progress is a process but the hardest part about it is that it doesn’t feel like it’s happening. It’s usually hidden in small repetitions, doubts, bad days, being judged, and that sad feeling of being stuck. Then one day you look back and realise you are no longer who you were.

So now a student can pass Grade 12 under ECZ, get a certificate recognised by law, show it to a university and still be told it must first be “verified” by ZAQA. When you sit with that for a moment, it becomes hard to understand what problem is actually being solved.

ECZ examined the student, issued the certificate and is legally mandated to do exactly that. If another public institution has to step in to check the same certificate, it either signals that ECZ’s work is not entirely trusted, or that the system simply doesn’t know which office is responsible for what.

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that a group of people sat down and designed a public institution whose role basically duplicates another public institution, and knowing fully well that the people caught in the middle; in this case, students, would end up paying for a mess they had no part in creating.👎

Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema has an MBA in Finance & Business Strategy from the University of Birmingham, UK, and his wealth is estimated at US$340 million – but he believes in witchcraft.
The other day a court in Lusaka sentenced 2 men to 2 years in prison with hard labour for attempting to kill the country's president Hakainde Hichilema with witchcraft. It's the first time that anyone has been put on trial for a witchcraft assassination attempt against the president in the country.
The two men were found in possession of, wait for it, a “live chameleon, an unidentified white powder, a red cloth and an animal's tail”, all of which they reportedly planned on using in a ritual that would cause death "within five days". These fellows will never stop embarrassing us.
