Deeply saddened by the passing of Padma Shri Dr D. Y. Patil Ji, former Governor of Bihar, Tripura, and West Bengal. He was a visionary educationist who built world-class educational institutions. Heartfelt condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti. 🙏#DrDYPatil
Nothing is more painful than seeing a parent grieve their child.
Behind every young life lost is a family carrying pain that will never leave them - and serious questions about a broken education system.
Leaked papers. Cancelled exams. Years of preparation destroyed overnight. Our students are told to work honestly in a system that is not honest with them.
And the Prime Minister has the audacity to speak of “forgiving” students.
He has not met a single grieving parent. He has not sat with a single student whose future was stolen by a leaked paper.
India’s students do not need his forgiveness. They are owed his apology.
The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024 was amended last week by an Amendment Act by Parliament
The Amendment Act enhances the punishment for offences and sets up Fast Track Courts
The Parent Act contained 19 sections. The Amendment amended 3 sections and introduced a new section
It is s misnomer to describe either the Parent Act or the Amendment Act as a law to 'prevent' unfair means
Both are laws to 'punish' those guilty of using unfair means
There is a vast difference between 'prevention' and 'punishment'
'Prevention' means steps BEFORE unfair means are used. On the other hand, 'punishment' means steps AFTER unfair means are used
The obvious distinction was pointed out by the Opposition speakers in the debates in both Houses
There was no answer, or even an attempt to answer, by the Government
The self-declared non-biological PM enjoys playing the victim card.
He uses vile vitriol against his predecessors and political opponents. He very frequently peddles lies to defame them, not just in his public speeches but in Parliament itself. He unleashes an army of foul-mouthed abusers both in Parliament and outside and gives them full protection.
The entire nation is wanting the PM to apologise for the trauma inflicted on lakhs of youth through his paper leak-ridden NTA and his Home Ministry-sanctioned brutality on student protestors. The entire nation is waiting for the PM to apologise for the Chanda Chori Astha Dhoka by the Ram Mandir Trust the establishment of which he had himself grandly announced in the Lok Sabha on Feb 5, 2020. The entire nation is still expecting his apology for his Tughlakian notebandi of Nov 8 2016 that destroyed crores of livelihoods and shuttered lakhs if MSMEs.
The list is endless.
But late last night, in act of supreme self-obsession, the PM said that he forgave our youth. This is an insult to the nation and to our youth which has suffered under his Government and is legitimately demanding an apology from him.
The Prime Minister’s InstaGram Sabhas are fooling no one.

🙏✨ #CPJoshi

More than the Fast Track Courts, the need of the hour is to have an honest, transparent and sincere government. Expecting this from the present government will be futile.
On 23rd July, the Delhi High Court set up a Special Fast Track Court in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue complex to hear the NEET-UG 2026 Paper leak case.
Tellingly, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to dispatch a legal representative to the inaugural hearing of this fast track court. It forced an immediate adjournment of the case.
With what face is the Modi Government tom-toming fast-track courts as a solution to the crisis of paper-leaks? Its own CBI is showing zero initiative in investigating and prosecuting these cases.
Another day another paper leak – this time in the Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar.
This is not an exception. Gujarat has witnessed 34 paper leaks between 2014 and 2024. The GPSC Chief Officer’s Paper in 2014, Talati Paper in 2015 and 2016, the TAT -Teacher Paper, Mukhya Sevika Paper, Nayab Chitnis Paper and Lokarakshak Dal Paper in 2018, the Non-Secretariat Clerk Exam in 2019, the Head Clerk, DGVCL Vidyut Assistant and Sub Auditor Exams in 2021, the Forest Guard Exam in 2022 and the Junior Clerk exam in 2023 were all leaked. Even the infamous UP police recruitment examination leak of 2024 was orchestrated from Ahmedabad. Gujarat under the BJP has become the “epicentre of all paper leaks in India”.
The Modi Government’s fast-track courts are not a solution to this systemic issue. It is a diversion. We need a larger and more honest conversation on how to reform our examination and education system.

Friends, in June 2024, after it bungled multiple examinations including NEET-UG, the Modi Government constituted a High-Level Committee of Experts headed by Dr. K Radhakrishnan to “ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations.”
In July 2026, after the Modi Government has yet again bungled the NEET-UG and other examinations, it has constituted a “High Powered Task Force” to focus on examination reform.
The Modi Government has still not finished implementing the K Radhakrishnan Committee’s 101 recommendations. Indeed, for most of the two years between the 2024 and 2026 paper leaks, it didn’t even appoint a full-time Director General for the National Testing Agency.
This is ultimately only a High-Powered attempt to fix the Pradhan Mantri’s irretrievably compromised image.
We hold Amit Shah directly responsible for the violence inflicted on our students. He authorised the firing on our students, authorised the use of lethal weapons, and authorised the use of pellet guns against them.
That's a fundamental issue. We do not accept our security forces shooting at the future of India. This is going to be a major issue in Parliament.
One of the students' demands: an apology from the Prime Minister.

The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has very recently done a detailed analysis based on its household expenditure data between 2014/15-2025/26. The conclusions are stark.
1. Education costs are rising substantially faster than household income.
2. Households are allocating a considerably larger share of their income towards education.
3. Private tuition has emerged as one of the fastest-growing components of household expenditure on education.
4. School and college fees have recorded sustained growth throughout the last decade, consistently outpacing household income growth.
5. Spending on books is rising even faster - that may reflect rising textbook and reference material prices, greater spending on competitive exam preparations, and on supplementary learning resources.
The Jantar Mantar and other protests in recent weeks have had proximate causes in an unfair and rigged exam system put in place by the deadly duo of Pradhan Mantri and (ex-)Mantri Pradhan. But the agony, anguish, and anger of youth and their parents have more fundamental causes of both accessibility and affordability revealed by the CMIE household expenditure data. They are crying out for remedial action NOW.
