seeing john mulaney this close up at a small intimate theater and hearing him say that my name was beautiful will go down as one of the greatest nights of my life
#MULANEYREADS in June: Tell Them of Battles, Kings and Elephants by Mathias Énard.
A small, perfect book. Michelangelo, angry at the Pope, takes a bad gig for good money in Constantinople. It reads like a beautiful 16th-century detective story. It’s short and wild.
This makes it 3 for 3 on great recommendations from J. Michaels Books in Eugene, Oregon. First was Chaim Soutine by Celeste Marcus (a great biography and a great book about creativity in general), then Everybody Knows by Jordan Harper.
Go there in person and buy anything they tell you to.
MACC MEMBERS! Tickets are on sale NOW for the hilarious John Mulaney coming to the Castle Theater on Friday, Dec. 18! ✨

Hello from a Wawa somewhere outside Washington, D.C.
#MulaneyReads this month is all about The Left and the Lucky by Willy Vlautin. I read this in a day, just in love with the characters, very funny people in some cases, very tragic, very human.
It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite movies “Joe” by David Gordon Green. I’m really a sucker for any story of an older person taking a lost kid under their wing. This one is electric. Buy it at your favorite bookstore.
Okay on to Norfolk, VA. See you somewhere.
mulaney kinda gets all the best stories in this otherwise blah doc — the squeaky fromme letter, lorne distracting him in rehab by bitching about the peacock rollout, a closing reverie about what it's gonna be like when he dies
I’m having obsessions that I can’t seem to control and it really sucks that I’m experiencing this. I went to see John Mulaney perform at The Lyric in Baltimore and had a great time. He’s an amazing comedian and I absolutely loved his show!
