Joining you for the flagging off of the inaugural export of 104 meteric tonnes of canned pineapples to China was a great pleasure. Thank you @FrankTumwebazek@MAAIF_Uganda@FAOUganda for the steadyfast leadership that has greatly enhanced Uganda's agricultural exports to China during the previous 5 years.
@BusogaConsorti1 is happy to patner with you, @MAAIF_Uganda@1ZuluLeonard@FAOUganda and @OWC_ug to build on the gained momentum to catalyse increased production for export and more inflows. Congratulations to #ChinaUgandaFriendship.
Straight from the swearing in ceremony, I dashed to luwero to flag-off the inaugural export of 104 metric tonnes of canned ( processed ) pineapples to China by DESHIBURG company, one of the investors in the Uganda-China Agriculture Cooperation industrial park.
Deshiburg company is the first investor to set up a dedicated canned pineapple factory in uganda with capacity to process 500 tonne per day. This increases the demand for pineapples as a raw material and ends the perennial challenge of lack of market for our perishable Agriculture produce. It places a challenge to our farmers to produce more for this demand.
I have made a clarion call to the local political leaders & Agriculture extension personnel, to mobilise & guide our farmers to start intentional farming:- farming that targets to meet existing demand of a particular agro-raw material sustainably. This huge proliferation of agro-industries speaks to farmers only one message; produce, produce and produce more! The excuses of no markets for Agricultural produce is no more with this revolution of agro-industrialisation !
Produce for own food , produce for the market ( domestic, regional and international ) and please do so following the acceptable standards, was my message to the farmers!
Empowering the youth with skills, knowledge, and exposure is the foundation of transforming Busoga into a prosperous middle-income region. When young people are equipped and given opportunities, they become the drivers of sustainable development and the future of our society.
Our goal as @BusogaConsorti1 is to train and equip one million youths across Busoga with practical skills, knowledge, and competence. We have already begun this journey by exposing young people to benchmarking opportunities both within and outside Uganda, empowering them to learn, innovate, and transform their communities. we aim to achieve the #BusogaVision2030 of transforming Busoga into a middle-income region by the year 2030,” said @mulanthony, Director General of @BusogaConsorti1.
