KRA has announced that employees will pay 8% tax on fringe benefits and interest from October to December 2025.
So, what does this mean?
If your employer gives you a KSh 1 million loan at 2% interest, yet the market rate is 8%, the 6% difference (8% – 2%) is treated as a taxable fringe benefit.
Your employer uses the 8% market rate set by KRA to calculate the tax and remits it directly to KRA —
