A diagram of an ancient slavic dugout by Nikolai Fomin ...
Archaeological evidence suggests that semi-subterranean dwellings, often called dugouts or pit houses, were used by many early Slavic communities between 5th-10th Centuries CE. These structures were partially excavated into the ground, typically between 1 and 1.5 meters deep, which helped maintain a relatively stable indoor temperature throughout the year. In the harsh climates of Eastern and Central Europe, this design provided significant protection against both winter cold and summer heat.
Most excavated Slavic dwellings measured between 10-25 square meters and were constructed using timber frames, wattle-and-daub walls, and roofs covered with thatch, bark, or sod. Archaeologists have uncovered thousands of such homes across present-day Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and the Balkans. Central clay ovens, used for cooking and heating, are among the most common features found at these sites.
These early Slavic settlements were typically small, often consisting of fewer than 20 households, and were largely self-sufficient, relying on agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing, and local crafts.
The remarkable insulating properties of semi-subterranean homes were so effective that similar designs continued to be used in parts of Eastern Europe and Siberia well into 19th and even early 20th Centuries.

A rare Pampas cat, also known as a colocolo, that lives in the forests of Chile.
With fewer than 100 individuals left in the wild, experts call Muñoa's pampas cat one of the most endangered felines in the world and warn it go extinct within 10 years as its natural habitat is cleared for cropland.
A message to Sony and Playstation from me, a lifetime fan:
PS1 was the first console I ever had for myself, and I have loved and played on every playstation console and handheld.
Through my years, I have over 700 games across all ps platforms and over 300 platinum trophies. I buy and play games, because Playstation is my favorite place to play ä.
Please Sony, all I ask for you is to care. To care about the fans like me who love physical media. It's the feeling of having physical discs that I can't describe. Putting into the PlayStation and playing it, no better feeling
As a long time fan, all I ask is that you care. The goodwill I once had is getting smaller by the day and the company that was innovative, fun and made the games I love is not the same anymore.
If you have any heart left, please show that you care. That's all fans like me ask you to do.
Thank you for reading if you did, whoever you are. This came from my broken heart today. I don't have much energy to give, I feel sad.
After settling into his new home, Lemont suddenly stopped using his litter tray. Our Feline Behaviour Team discovered his litter had been changed, and switching back solved the problem.
Cats are sensitive creatures, and even small changes can have a big impact on them!
A woman glanced at my dog and said he looked “dangerous.” She even questioned why a German Shepherd like him should be allowed on a plane at all. Let me introduce you to Drake. The same dog she felt uneasy about spent six years working with Marine Special Operations. Drake is a highly trained Multi-Purpose Canine. While most people instinctively move away from danger, his role has always been to run directly toward it. Here’s what he’s done: He has tracked high-value targets during critical missions. He has located hidden explosives before they could harm anyone. He was shot twice while protecting the team he served with. That scar on his shoulder? It came from shrapnel during an IED blast in Helmand Province. Even while injured and bleeding, Drake kept going and identified four more explosive devices nearby, helping keep his team safe. And that slight limp you noticed? It’s from taking multiple rounds during an ambush while shielding his handler. Because of him, a young Marine made it home alive to his child. Drake has been awarded a Navy Commendation Medal and a Purple Heart. He’s also credited with helping save over forty lives. And here’s the part that truly matters — he has never bitten a single person. The only things he’s ever gone after were threats to the people he was trained to protect. So no, I won’t be moving my seat. But if you’d like, you’re more than welcome to thank him for his service. If Drake’s story changed the way you see him… Comment “Drake” below. I’d love to show you what Drake is like now — the calm, loyal side of him, and the way he still quietly watches over everyone around him. | Dogs Are Our World

> Be Richard Feynman
> Teaches himself advanced calculus at age 15
> Fixes neighborhood radios for fun during the Great Depression
> Recruited to work on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos in his 20s
> Gets bored while building the atomic bomb and starts picking locks
> Breaks into his colleagues' top-secret safes just to leave them mocking notes
> Completely breaks down the government's security system for fun
> Loses his wife to tuberculosis and uses the grief to dive deeper into physics
> Reinvents quantum mechanics by drawing simple sketches (Feynman Diagrams)
> Wins the Nobel Prize in Physics for his breakthroughs
> Refuses to take himself seriously or act like a stuffy academic
> Spends his free time playing the bongo drums in a Brazilian samba band
> Learns how to paint at age 44 and sells his art under a pseudonym
> Travels to remote regions to decode ancient Mayan hieroglyphics
> Investigates the tragic Challenger Space Shuttle disaster on live TV
> Drops a piece of rubber into a glass of ice water in front of Congress
> Instantly proves the O-rings failed due to the cold, cracking the case single-handedly
> And Richard Feynman is still the most brilliant, chaotic mind to ever live who proved geniuses can have fun.
> Feynman is badass.
Otter at a local zoo is going viral after showing zookeepers her favorite marble collection.
At a local zoo, staff noticed one otter had a habit that was different from the rest.
Otters are known for using rocks to crack open shellfish, and some even keep their favorite stones because they work better than others. But this otter wasn’t saving rocks. She was saving marbles.
Zookeepers first noticed her hiding one shiny marble in the corner of her enclosure. Then another appeared. Then another.
Soon, staff realized she wasn’t just collecting them by accident. She was carefully keeping each one like it meant something.
The zookeepers thought it was so sweet that one by one, staff members started bringing her a different marble as a gift. Every time she received one, she would take it gently, inspect it, and add it to her little collection.
Now, whenever certain keepers visit, she gathers the marbles together as if she’s showing them off. Visitors say it looks like she knows exactly which marble came from which person.

Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada spoke about the contradictions of human nature:
“Some people dream of having a swimming pool at home, while those who have one hardly ever use it. Those who have lost a loved one feel a profound sense of loss, while others often complain about their living relatives. Those without a partner long for one, while those who have one often don't appreciate it. The hungry would give anything for a meal, while the satiated complain about the taste of their food. Those without a car dream of owning one, while those who have a car are always looking for a better one.”
The key to happiness is gratitude: truly seeing and appreciating what we already have, and understanding that somewhere, someone would give anything for what we take for granted.
I had no idea..
"This man was born in 1809.
In 1816, at age 7, he was forced to work because his family was expelled.
In 1818, he lost his mother.
In 1828, he lost his sister.
In 1831, he opened his first business and went bankrupt.
In 1832, he stood in the legislative elections and lost.
In 1833, he borrowed money to open another business and went bankrupt again.
In 1835, he met a wonderful woman. He falls in love with her, they get engaged, and she dies.
In 1836, he entered a dark period of his life: deep depression.
He remains bedridden for 6 consecutive months. But he gets up.
He gets up and in that same year of 1836 he runs in the legislative elections and loses again.
In 1840 he presented himself as an elector; he loses.
In 1842, he met the woman he would end his life with.
They fall in love, get engaged, get married and she gives him 4 children and they lose 3 (three).
In 1843, he appeared at the congresses and lost.
In 1845, he appeared again at the congresses and lost again.
In 1850, his son died.
In 1854, he ran for the Senate and lost.
In 1856, he ran for Vice President, he didn't even have 100 votes.
In '58, he ran again for the Senate and lost again.
And in 1860 ABRAHAM LINCOLN was elected President of the United States of America 🇺🇸.
He was elected for two exceptional terms (he was assassinated in beginning of the second term.) He was one of the most respected and impactful Presidents in the history of the United States 🇺🇸.
It's important to tell this story of perseverance because we see the hero, but we don't see the backstage of the afflictions. "
Wow. ...
I think this is a great example of Never Never Never Give Up! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ngl… this is absolutely incredible.
Hundreds of people suspended in the air, each one depending on the next, moving together until somehow they become one massive living work of art.
Just think about the trust that takes.
One person alone could never create this. But together, they make something that almost doesn’t seem possible.
With everything we see dividing people these days, I love seeing reminders like this.
Human beings are capable of some truly extraordinary things when we come together.
Be honest… how long did it take you to realize what you were actually watching?
Please share your love to them .. they just need some foods.... Because they can't get the job. You don't have to love them, but please don't hurt them. Every life deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion.
Your bird bath might be missing half its potential users at best, and at worst might be drowning them.
Pollinators and smaller songbirds enjoy a good drink on a hot day from a bird bath, but many can't safely drink from standard bird baths. The water is too deep, the edges are too slick, and they can't land safely.
Bees wind up drowning in them, butterflies avoid them, and smaller birds like chickadees and finches wait for a puddle instead.
The fix? A few large rocks. Even a single rock in the center of your bird bath breaks the surface of the water and turns your bird bath into a more usable piece of habitat.
With rocks in place, bees can land and drink safely. Butterflies can perch. Smaller birds have a safe resting spot.
It doesn't cost anything if you're good at looking for rocks, takes about 30 seconds to do, and it likely doubles who can use your bird bath.
