And it's finally out! Something @taylorotwell and I have been working on for the last few months. Introducing Volt - an elegantly crafted functional API for Laravel Livewire. It will released next week. 🌌 #LaraconUS
Is the EU extra paranoid or is the rest of the world too careless about the rights of their constituents?
It’s funny that everyone seeks and praises the protections and the high quality of life in the EU, but are not willing to sacrifice some of their self-centered privileges in their own countries to have the same.
What do you think? 🤔
I'm not really sure folks understand the importance of this System Card for GPT-4. This should be on everyone's reading list for the weekend. Here are some excerpts highlighting why it's an important read:
[...] "In this system card, we outline the safety challenges that arise from GPT-4, and explain the interventions we implemented to mitigate potential harms from its deployment." [...]
[...] "Some of the specific risks we explored are: Hallucinations, Harmful content, Harms of representation, allocation, and quality of service, Disinformation and influence operations, Proliferation of conventional and unconventional weapons, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Potential for risky emergent behaviors, Interactions with Other Systems, Economic impacts, Acceleration, Overreliance" [...]
[...] "Historically, the introduction of automation technologies has increased inequality and had disparate impacts on different groups.[89] Similar trends his may manifest via GPT-4 in various ways, including worker displacement, a decline of wages given the competitive cost of the model, differential access and benefits from access to new tools and applications, and changes in industrial organization and power structures due to collection of and access to training data." [...]
We need to figure out a way to make sure this research of risks is fully understood by the public & policy makers.
A testimony of putting generative-AI to good use. Yes, it is just a beginning but the future of deeper integration and more accurate responses is bright and promising 🚀
@jeffrey_way Just out of curiosity, off-topic. In “Reply::make($reply)”, is Reply an Eloquent model and “make” is a method to self-factorise? or is it a DTO that’s DB-related somehow?
@BassemDy I’d leave the logic/algo last. Wondering about the reason for an “if” statement, input/field validation or strategy would throw me into a rabbit hole I’m better off without 🐇
Navigate code in a case-by-cases basis. Could be endpoints or other execution/consumption mechanisms.
@BassemDy DB-first as I’ll have an idea of what entities and props we’ll be dealing with when reading code. The approach would be horizontal:
1. Skim through the DB without digging deep into details
2. Follow a “usage-first” pattern for entities to figure out how they’re used in code
This is awesome. It is only a matter of time until every tool/tech and library provides its own contextualised GPT-3 interactive chat bot that we can ask directly instead of going through the docs.

An organization’s efficiency in delivery is almost 1:1 to their digital platform (internal). With autonomous/automated coordination, output can move seamlessly with little friction across different functions.

@BassemDy That’s a long debate (pun intended). Joking aside, I agree with you. Personally, I’d avoid any friction bcz most conversations lack context, expression and tone. Let alone what the person is going through
Knowing how to be constructively criticising though is a remarkable skill!
The next couple of pieces to complete the puzzle would be:
1. Timeline/roadmap view
2. Cycle management (time-based grouping) which would require a time factor that may not make sense, but could be a custom setting per org/project
Been a while since I’ve seen @github ’s Projects after being among the very early adopters. Love what’s been done there, a proof of proper product development!
Moreover, I’ve always held a high regard to the way @kubernetesio is being built in public ⛴️
A maintainer’s fantasy!
