@CrabbyTiger777 @BeheadedQueens @Cpass12David Share of the vote matters, as do raw votes, in terms of the strength of the mandate; Labour’s share was so low in 2024 that it illustrated that the electorate wasn’t sold on the Party and/or policies which means they’re quick to turn on you. And, yes, I agree about FPTP.

Of course it was about the voters: we narrowly avoided becoming the 3rd party in Wales, we lost strongholds in London,

@BeheadedQueens @Cpass12David Starmer won on fewer votes than Corbyn got in 2017, and less than 1% more than in the record defeat of 2019. He had a very shallow mandate & little goodwill which he quickly burned away with his response to Southport, Winter Fuel Allowance & PIP reform.

Streeting held off bcoz knew a win w/out Burnham wld be pyrrhic & store up same probs down the line. Starmer was doomed when MEMBERS voted Lucy Powell Deputy over Starmer’s candidate.

@NerineHalton @Cpass12David Small problem is he wouldn’t have got beyond a full term; if you put your keyboard down & had canvassed for the Party in May you’d know that the hatred of Starmer from voters was visceral & it was irreparable. We could sail blindly on as we did in 2019 & be annihilated or change.
