The reason a man didn't lose interest in a lady who told him she has a boyfriend is because he wants to smash her, not because he wants to snatch her from her boyfriend. His lust, not love, for her controls him there.

A man's interest shrinks when he realises that his love interest is taken. There's hardly an exception to this rule.
