most people spend ~99% of their lives trying to survive that they never get the chance to learn how to ride a bicycle, swim, play an instrument, travel, speak a foreign language or simply explore life beyond work and responsibilities. another side of poverty we don’t talk about.
the hardest part of changing your life is realizing you can’t keep living the old way while waiting for a new life to appear. you can’t keep the same habits, same environment, same excuses, and expect a completely different outcome. at some point, you have to choose. leave the old version of yourself behind and commit fully to the person you’re becoming.
Notice how most great creators didn’t choose between art and survival. They secured survival first, then had the freedom to create.
We romanticize the starving artist far too much. It’s hard to make great art when you’re constantly worried about rent, food, bills, and tomorrow.
Talent doesn’t disappear because you lack passion. Sometimes it disappears because poverty leaves you no room to nurture it.
You CANNOT go back in time and change the decisions you took. Forgive yourself, move on, be your best version. You're alive and until death all defeat is psychological.
Rebuild.
