Most AI teams only focus on building the model from the inside (code, training, architecture). Almost no one owns the complete system from the outside. how it actually behaves with real users, edge cases, different environments, and emergent behavior.

As AI gets more complex (agents, memory, tool use) and moves into high-stakes areas, this kind of focused behavioural ownership will become essential.
I think it should be normal to have a dedicated role for this: AI Behavioural Engineer.Someone who owns systematic, outside-in testing and understanding of the full deployed AI system’s emergent behaviour and provides feedback to the engineers building it at different stages.
