Isiolo County Woman Representative @muminabonaya, has launched a two-day relief food distribution exercise in Cherab Sub-county to support vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramadan.
Hon. @muminabonaya is requesting for a statement from the Departmental Committee on Education regarding the Approval of Junior Secondary Schools in Isiolo County. #BungeLiveNA.
We left the forum with a renewed sense of commitment, collaboration, and innovation. Our children are counting on us, and we must not fail them.I sincerely thank our able Governor @GovGuyo and Hon Samal Lomwa ,MP North for their leadership and team spirit.
Today ,I was honored to be the chief guest at Isiolo County Secondary Schools Stakeholders Meeting.
As a teacher I have a clear understanding of the things that go into the education system to make learners achieve good learning outcomes. #masomoKwanza
I have some experience working with learners as a teacher both at Nairobi School and Pangani Girls. These are exemplar schools that have close to 100% transition to universities and I see a very big gap in our performance in education as Isiolo County, but I also see hope.
In our deliberation today,we re-affirmed that education is not just a policy agenda but a moral responsibility to us leaders for the sake of our future generation and challenged ourselves to commit to actionable solutions that will drive meaningful change in Isiolo’s education.
This means that 39.4% of our students now qualify for diploma courses and will be making a significant contribution to the blue economy in Kenya. This is a combined and encouraging combined transition rate of 65.4% direct to University and diploma colleges.
This year:
• 518 scored a C+ and above. This means that 26% of our students qualified for direct University entry. This percentage is higher than the national average of 21% transition to university. 795 students scored either a C plain or a C- minus.
Since then ,as Isiolo education stakeholders,we have systematically embarked on a journey that was deliberate and strategic to address systemic problems limiting our performance.
Following many small efforts that may not seem much,we have made tremendous achievements.
More specifically we noted a huge problems of poor access to quality education, insufficient & dilapidated infrastructure including classrooms and furniture, teacher shortages, and the absence of community involvement in our schools. These challenges were more pronounced in Isiolo
In 2019,I was privileged to make a contribution to the education sector when the former president HE Uhuru Kenyatta gave me a chance to work for his government as the CAS in education.I got an opportunity to make a contribution to the glaring challenges in education countrywide.
As a pastoralist, I have seen how education has transformed some families, I theorefore see education as the singular most promising vehicle to economic emancipation of Isiolo County. The investment we are making in our youths now will make our later years better and more secure.
Hon @muminabonaya was happy to be among the first they called to share their joy and appreciate this new development.
In turn, she says a big thank you to @CA_Kenya for keeping the promise. She's looking forward to closer engagement to achieve much more together this year.
