@TypeForVictory @HugoGye People are always happy for government spending as long as they are not the ones funding it. There is a massive disconnect between what people want the government to provide and what they think they should contribute to achieve it.

@duncanrobinson @HugoGye It’s not really The North which Mr Burnham champions, it’s just Greater Manchester. I don’t think he has much interest in Newcastle, Scarborough, Sheffield, Carlisle, Keswick or the whole of Yorkshire. He’s the King of Manchester.

23 years ago today, American peace activist Rachel Corrie was killed in Rafah, Gaza while trying to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes. She was brutally run over by an Israeli militarized bulldozer. She was 23.

“I wonder if any of the children here have ever existed without the tank-shells and the demolition.” Rachel Corrie said.

Today, much of the city she died to defend has been reduced to rubble.

RIP Rachel, may your memory inspire each of us to nurture the courage to stand in defense of others.
