France is 8 months away from having a pro-Russian government.
The problems we had with Orban blocking aid to Ukraine will look like nothing compared to the EU's second largest economy falling into Putin's hands.
🕯️ August 29 — Day of Remembrance for the Defenders of Ukraine
Today, Ukraine remembers those who gave their lives for its freedom, independence and future.
This date is tied to one of the most tragic chapters of the Russo-Ukrainian war — the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the encirclement near Ilovaisk in 2014. Russian forces violated the agreed “green corridor” and opened fire on the Ukrainian columns.
The soldiers were moving through fields of sunflowers, which is why the sunflower became the symbol of this day of remembrance.
Behind every loss is not just a number. It is someone’s life, family, friends, comrades, dreams and plans that will never come true.
Today, remember your friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues and acquaintances who gave their lives in this war.
🌻 Heroes never die.
They're pissing away their entire country's future to control territory they reduced to rubble and that their people never gave a fuck about. A suicidal nation.
Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Poland are urging the European Commission to find a way around Belgium’s opposition to the proposed “reparations loan.”
It’s frankly astonishing that the EU still hasn’t solved this.
The United States has a whites-only refugee policy right now. We have the most racist government in 100 years in power.
Let’s focus on the actual substance not Twitch streamers or Tweets.
Eventually the russians are going to cause a mass casualty event. The evidence will be solid, russia will have 38 different competing alternative theories blaming Ukraine, the US, Sweden, the UK, Moldova, and Somalia, and the German govt will do absolutely nothing.
@jurgen_nauditt Kremlin devotes enormous resources to ensuring that such opinions remain few and far between, and collective consensus has always been undermined by "voices" calling for diplomacy with Putin.
As long as words remain just words, Putin will continue to disregard the West's position
As I pointed out in my Kyiv Independent piece, any “land for peace” deal will make this sort of abuse even more routine and invisible by conceding Russia’s sovereignty over the occupied territories and their populations.
It would henceforth be an “internal” Russian matter. 🧵
Don’t stop shouting about russia’s human safari in Kherson.
Every single day, russian terrorists hunt civilians like animals.
And they’re proud of it.
They film the killings, edit the footage, add music, and post it online like trophies.
This is russia. These are russians.
📉 Trump’s approval rating has fallen to the lowest level of his presidency — Reuters/Ipsos
In early August, only 35% of Americans approved of the U.S. president’s performance, while 64% said they disapproved. One of the main reasons for the decline in support was the U.S. war with Iran: only 20% of respondents said the conflict had been worth it.
Around 80% of Americans expect the war to drag on, while rising fuel prices have further weighed on voter sentiment.
Trump’s current rating is now approaching the low point of his first term — 33% in December 2017.
With the November midterm elections approaching, numbers like these are looking increasingly uncomfortable for the White House.
