Empathy is the hardest thing to practice, it requires you to fully step out of your privilege and ignorance, and truly put yourself in other people shoes… No one who is truly empathetic would give school kids portable furniture to carry daily, instead of equipping the schools
These corporate school desks are a PR disaster that shows such disdain for the poor. No rich person would want their child carrying around school furniture, but poor children are meant to be happy with the piles of branded plastic that they have to drag around? Very telling.
As a Zimbabwean, watching what is happening in the US unfold is almost surreal. It's crazy how many of us outside that country can identify where it's headed politically and yet so many of them can't

South Africa must document its history properly, or we risk people even denying apartheid ever happened. We need more documentaries and demographic data—without them, we leave the narrative to those with influence to shape the country as they see fit.
