@mncedisi_mengu Im a simple guy, I will believe in him if my fellow kinsmen can spend 6 good months refueling at Zuva Petroleum service stations in the local currency. Bro has the controlling stake right there.
Oh, and also use it to pay customs, taxes and govt issued stuff like passports.
The biggest challenges have to be the distribution system as well as the payment system. Seems @EcoCashZW is optimised for sending and receiving money and remittances, and very little on internal Zim commerce. It's cheaper to cash out, go to the shop and pay cash.
@gladyshlatywayo Perhaps a semi-autonomous entity in the shape of @JHBWater could balance off these conflicting principles. We can still go private, with @zinwawater tariffs gauged to protect the low income earners the same way ZESA does it, and with a legal framework that protects them.
@gladyshlatywayo While it being a necessity to life and it's absence disproportionately affecting women have to be always considered, we need to have solutions that ensure that our local authorities are in a position to continuously supply it. The ability to recover the costs is a good start.
