Farhia @farhia4real and I talked parallels between George Floyd and
Abdirahman Abdi’s case, the erasure of Anti-Black racism in Canada and what the movement to defund police could look like in Ottawa on @cbcallinaday

Thinking of Greg Ritchie and his family today. ( & remember: officer Thanh Tran was acquitted on an assault causing bodily harm SIU charge after assaulting a 50 y/o-houseless man in 2011..... they stay protected)
Three years ago today, Ottawa Police Officers Thanh Tran and David Vincelette murdered Greg Ritchie-baa, an Anishinaabe man from Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation. Saugeen and Nawash (my community) make up the Saugeen Ojibwe Nation. https://t.co/ByxUhmF1ck
lmao also the feeling that I’ve over shared based on people’s reactions to me even though I haven’t crossed my own boundaries..... the worst because that reaction is none of my business 😭
Balancing the ability to be open and honest while still keeping things sacred is easy until I feel like I've overshared and I walk away from the convo like
here is that guy we warned about showing you all who he really is
a reminder: he is the Government of Ontario's Advocate for Community Opportunities...and in this province community means Black, Indigenous and racialized people.
I meditate to affirmations. Sometimes tuning into our bodies as people with complicated relationships to food can be triggering. So if you’re not ready to do that, that’s cool.
As a start, maybe listen to the affirmations as words you may share with a friend or loved one.
To any one reading this tweet that has had a history of disordered eating and body image stuff:
1) I love you ❤️
2) consider checking out this EP of @AffirmationPod . this helped me ground in gratitude for the ways my bod keeps me alive. It’s 10 min.

@FaeJohnstone Unless talking and checking in IS the purpose of the meeting then people can opt in or out.... sometimes I love those I just gotta know what I’m gettin into
@FaeJohnstone Right. It’s only neoliberal when efficiency becomes more important then collective care or addressing conflict.
Meetings should move at the pace of the collective. take time to clarify and respond to needs yes but talking in circles for hours lmao hell no
I was arguing with my brother about something rap related and I used the words “internalized patriarchy” and he stopped and said:
“I love you but I think you use words like that to win arguments because you know mom and I won’t fully understand what you mean. Use common words”
