Africans are not South Africa’s enemy. We all know who South Africa’s real enemies are. It is only the uneducated, the ignorant and the manipulated who fail to see that.

South Africa’s biggest challenges are corruption, state capture, unemployment, poor governance and the looting of public resources. Dividing Africans and turning neighbours against one another does not solve these problems; it only distracts people from the real issues.

As the article suggests, a fragmented Africa serves certain interests. A divided continent is weaker economically, politically and diplomatically. Africans should not become enemies of one another while those who benefit from our divisions continue to prosper. Knowledge is power, and understanding who truly benefits from division is the first step towards solving our problems.

If the ZANU PF’s biggest critic can be brought into the financial fold, it signals to ordinary citizens that resistance is futile and that everyone has a price.

This is exactly what Israel wanted: to turn South Africa into a pariah state, with the help of some of its own citizens riding on genuine problems and legitimate frustrations. A country that is isolated, divided and consumed by internal conflict becomes weaker and easier to manipulate.

South Africans must address their real problems, but South Africans must also be careful not to become instruments in agendas that further damage their nation and its standing in the world.

COSATU once helped us blockade military equipment that was meant to be used on defenceless citizens, Mbeki released them. All we need is for Ramaphosa and Mbalula to stop enabling the Harare regime.
