@magare44405 the entirety of ep1 rubs off to me as a huge attention grab tiktok audience catered flashy strat that worked. The church scene was a very visually gorgeous scene. But it is not an intense gut-wrenching climax after a season full of tension that mizumono was so it’s not comparable
@Dexignerdreams@NaomiUTD hand to god this is the first time i’m seeing this as a reason i guess we live and we learn. i learnt it was called the congo bc of the river. same as the gambia or any other country with the in the name. i’d argue zaire is even more damaging than the congo but like i said
@awasauce@NaomiUTD yeah i can see why it can sound that way. i guess it never crossed my mind not only bc i know there are two congos, but from what im learning saying the congo is disrespectful in the same way saying the blacks is idk. i wish we would just focus on the draw we had such a good day
@Dexignerdreams@NaomiUTD i think you guys are just anglophones it’s okay. americans also call their country america and not <<the>> united states of america all the time. the same way ppl just say netherlands and not the netherlands. but countries have official names. and the drc’s official name is that

@qurralo@NaomiUTD i agree. still doesn’t change that there are countries with the article “the” before the name of the country. i was just using it as an example; we say the congo the same way we say the gambia, its the point i was making. of course i am for ukrainian sovereignty
@kennyallgrownup@NaomiUTD up until the dissolution of the ussr, the official name of the country was the ukrainian soviet socialist republic, ppl would shorten it by saying the ukraine. you’ll see it’s mostly old folk (from that era) who will sometimes still call it the ukraine. it’s the same logic.
@simply_grcee@AtlasGrimKiefer@aidanlising i think most ppl were frustrated with ronaldo and not at the drc players. i know the country is racist like i said i live here. i’m just saying the notion that them seeing others celebrating and immediately deferring to thinking wow they must be saying inexcusable slurs is…
