Chimamanda's focus on Lagos in her letter is astounding! The National & Local elections in the SE were marred with violence, mass rigging with 97% votes going to Labour party whilst the rest of the country had diversity of votes, what about armed thugs attacking and stealing ballot boxes in SE! She does not touch on this at all! She seems to categorise Nigerians & youth as Obidients, "A subterranean silence reigned across the country. Few people celebrated. Many Nigerians were in shock".
"Rage is brewing, especially among young people". Did she forget Obi did little to appeal to Muslim Northern voters which delivered block votes to the ruling party? Yet it's her kinsman who tried to start an ethno religious war being praised! It's clear she's become an emergency Nigerian, a clear tribalist running to the US for with a begging bowl! Nothing on Obi's Pandora papers, the killings of MASSOB youths at the notorious Awkuzu SARS, Anambra! Instead Obi is described "a third force. Obi was different; he seemed honest and accessible, and his vision of anti-corruption and self-sufficiency...". Nothing on the religious war either! Her letter stinks of hypocrisy, biase, tribalism & bigotry! Yet Obidients have the audacity to call out the our wonderful Yoruba Nobel prize winner, the esteemed & celebrated Wole Soyinka, a man who stood up for democracy & was imprisoned after standing up for Biafra.
