1️⃣ Coach Amelia Valverde got the starting setup wrong. Manisha Kalyan on the left was a strange call, and going with just two midfielders meant India’s midfield got completely overrun in the first half.

2️⃣ Manisha moved centrally before HT, and India immediately looked better. Disappointing outings from Grace and Soumya.

3️⃣ Valverde’s halftime subs worked well. Both changes were involved in the equaliser, finished brilliantly by Sanfida Nongrum, who showed the intensity required at this level.

4️⃣ Silky and Sangita looked far better as a pivot in the second half, helping India control phases of the game.

5️⃣ Back four remains a concern. LCB Martina and LB Sanju struggled throughout, and neither looked comfortable in those roles. This needs fixing before facing Japan.

6️⃣ Both goals conceded were avoidable, coming from multiple individual errors.

India probably deserved a draw, but with just 20 days of competitive IWL football under their belt, players clearly lacked match fitness and awareness. The defeat leaves India top of the third-place ranking for now, but to ensure qualification they must finish in the top two. #IndianFootball
