Excited for IPPS 2025 @PelvicPainOrg
Join me for my session on the assessment of Adverse Childhood Events in young people aged 10-18 presenting with period and pelvic pain, where I’ll dive into what we have found and the current evidence.
“The overall prevalence of chronic pain in children and adolescents was 20.8%!”
That’s 1 in 5 kids on average are facing chronic pain. Don’t forget to fund paediatric research and healthcare!
“An emphasis on diagnosis can delay prompt management of pain & symptoms. Lesions are not sought before a headache receives treatment. While recognising that a cure for headache is often not possible, we nevertheless act to reduce pain & suffering”

New study alert!
We are conducting an online survey to find out how stigma affects people with menstrual (period) pain.
You are eligible to participate if you are:
· An adult presumed female at birth aged 18 – 45 y
· Self-report menstrual pain
· Currently reside in Australia
“People accept that a migraine is painful - they don't require the pain to be visible to believe that person is in pain.
Whereas with pain inside the pelvis is easier to dismiss. It's still real, it's just harder to share" https://t.co/gOeCF9uKBU
@KJaneChalmers winner of the @AusPainSoc Rising Star award and truely deserved. Describing what pain is and what it isn’t, and why pelvic pain is unique.
Rapid Fire Communications @AusPainSoc Fabulous research on Gender Bias in Children’s Picture Books. On the subject of children’s picture books, does anyone know of books for kids that explain chronic pain to kids?
