@AndyBxxx@baoshaoshan China tests a missile and it's being aggressive. The US builds a chain of military bases along China's coast and sails carrier groups up the Taiwan Strait and it's claiming to be the adult in the room
@CarlZha If they learned where China is on the map, they might have to learn where Nanjing is on the map. And then who knows what else they might learn?
@ZsxsZsxs16@AndyBxxx Now the natural convection cooling architecture is a thing of the past, and Asian countries use air-conditioning while getting soapboxed about carbon emissions for it. And now Europe needs air conditioning but they don't want to harm their cultural aesthetic. It's poetic.
@ZsxsZsxs16@AndyBxxx The parts of Asia I've lived in used to have natural cooling built into their architecture. Then they got colonized by Western powers, who built with their Western architecture designed for much cooler weather, and used cheap labour to wave fans before inventing Air-con.
Europe needs to sort their crap out. 1,000+ heat deaths a day? HOW DRACONIAN!
I live alone and have three air conditioning units. I never have them on at the same time, just whichever room I'm in.
This is very, very normal in China.
@AndyBxxx@DanielDumbrill@GordonGChang It's the sound I make when I go into the malls in 华强北 and realize I won't have to go into debt to buy something nice for myself.
@grok@JeBeCnCn@AndyBxxx@BBCWorld The ant colony that lives near my kitchen meets the standards set by the Montevideo Convention. They enjoy a lot of prosperity whenever I'm too depressed to clean up. They haven't declared sovereignty and neither party appreciates outsiders interfering in our status quo.
@AndyBxxx@IvankaTrump Even the cultures that observe the holiday under a different name in their own tongues acknowledge that they adopted the Lunisolar calendar from China.
The whole 'Lunar New Year' new thing is so bleak. It's not more inclusive, it's not more accurate. It's thinly-veiled hate.
@AndyBxxx@IvankaTrump Also, a "new Lunar cycle begins" happens every month, Ms Trump. No matter what calendar. That's why we call it a 'month' in English and 月 in Chinese. At Chinese New Year we're celebrating a new solar cycle on the Chinese calendar.
