I think I would get along most with Robin as we love books

Sanji (assuming he came straight from Germa) would need a lot of hugs, we could cook together too

Chopper would be super sweet to take care of

I think I could also leave Jinbe doing his own thing, he's independent

If you could babysit any one Straw Hat as a kid, who would you choose?

Older maestros like Miyazaki were humble enough to befriend and learn from other countries' maestros like Jean Giraud Moebius.

But these people, after deciding to learn nothing of the world outside, pat themselves in the back happily and say, "Japan is exceptional, huh?"

[Rinaldo Hartanto | 🌋 @Muntilander]

It's not the world is lacking content. It's just a lot of Japanese people, including the ones in this post's QRT, are frogs in the well who are incurious about the world outside and what the other countries make.

Ada tuh podcaster ngaku2 wibu tapi pas ada bahasan Tokyo Godfathers malah sekedar tau/pernah denger aja enggak. Padahal yg bahas termasuk awam.

Lagian lucu bgt liat elitis wibu skrg. Dulu jd wibu udh kek aib, nonton anime di kelas aja dibully. Skrg malah rebutan jadi si paling wibu. Curiga ni elitis2 wibu adalah org2 yg dulunya ngebully wibu dan skrg jd poser sok elit

indonesian are too obsessed with the idea that a messianic-like figure will pop up and lead the people and save everyone

nobody is saving us. look at france they dont have a central figure in their protests. everyone going out because they actually care for one another.

1. Not many Indo diaspora overseas compared to Thais, Viets, Filipinos
2. No govt soft power support like Thailand
3. Too many regional variations to introduce, we usually resort to highlight few items: rendang, nasi goreng, sate ayam

Ngl how is Indonesian cuisine not a global superhit

But in all seriousness, the reaction from Japanese One Piece fans to people using the Straw Hat Jolly Roger in protests has been genuinely pissing me off. So many of them are more concerned about people bringing One Piece into real-life politics, calling it dangerous rhetoric and worrying that the series could get banned in certain countries, than they are about WHY people are even using it in the first place.

And I think this perfectly highlights the disconnect between Japanese fans and international fans. For some of them, One Piece is a manga they love and want to protect from controversy. For a lot of us, its themes of oppression, corruption, government tyranny and the fight for freedom hit a little closer to home. Some of us have lived through these things. Some of us have watched our families and loved ones suffer and die because of corrupt governments and injustice.

They can afford to treat these themes as fiction because they don’t necessarily have to relate them to their own reality. But when people who have experienced these things firsthand see the Straw Hat flag as a symbol of resistance and freedom, why is they’re first reaction to police how other fans use it rather than understand why it resonates with them in the first place?

And that’s what bothers me. Instead of trying to understand why people from completely different backgrounds see themselves in this story, they’re dismissing it as dangerous political rhetoric that might get one piece banned in these countries

Greta Thunberg raises awareness of the Kalimantan fires and haze crisis:

“The fires and haze crisis is far from over. As terrifying as this footage is, the reality on the ground is much worse than what you see on social media. 2 million acres of forests have been destroyed by fires. Animals have been burned alive, people are dying and suffocating, villagers have lost their forests and rubber trees, firefighters have died, and 277,075 people have been hospitalized due to acute respiratory infections, including 62,400 children under the age of five. This situation has been ongoing for four months. Please continue to support by donating today to Borneo’s Fires and Haze Crisis Fundraising Campaign to help firefighters, build more haze shelters to protect people, especially children and vulnerable groups, and save the remaining forests.”
