@JMafume I’m asking the City of Harare to urgently address the recurring overnight noise from major events at Alex Sports Club This is not about one isolated concert. Large events at the venue repeatedly cause serious overnight noise across Milton Park, Belvedere, Ridgeview, The Avenues, Belgravia and surrounding parts of old Harare. The latest example was Winky D’s “Tete a Tete” on 29 August. The event started at around 6pm and continued until approximately 5am the following morning - nearly 11 hours of amplified noise through the entire night. People living in these established residential areas should not simply be expected to accept this as normal. The wider area also includes major medical facilities such as The Avenues Clinic and Parirenyatwa, and Milton Park Medical Centre, where patients, healthcare workers and families deserve reasonable peace and rest. Nobody is arguing that Alex Sports Club should stop hosting events. The frustration is that there appears to be no meaningful limit on how late the noise can continue, and residents are left dealing with the consequences every single time. How many complaints must be made before there is a lasting solution? Please can the City investigate what permissions and noise restrictions apply to these events, whether they are actually being enforced, and what will be done to stop the same problem repeating year after year. Old Harare’s residential neighbourhoods should not have to sacrifice an entire night’s peace whenever a major event is held.
