During Day 1 of the retreat, @achaleke, Chairman of @McKinseyAfrica and Senior Partner at McKinsey & Co. Johannesburg, led a session on Collective Sense-Making on Africa’s Development Trajectory, presenting on “Reimagining Economic Growth in Africa.”
@achaleke further emphasized that low productivity remains one of Africa’s biggest challenges, noting that digital transformation across both public and private sectors will be critical to unlocking productivity and driving sustainable growth.
Day 1 of the UNCT Retreat concluded with a deep dive into key thematic areas, identifying risks, opportunities and inflection points for Eswatini’s development and how the UN’s comparative advantages can drive high-impact joint action under the UNSDCF 2026–2030.

Dr. Ojielo stressed that amid declining ODA and rising debt pressures, climate shocks and bilateralism, UN value must be demonstrated, not assumed. He called for the UN to act as a systems integrator, de-risking partner and trusted convener for inclusive development.
