Muntari Shagari served as Honourable Minister of Water Resources nearly two decades ago under President Olusegun Obasanjo, overseeing all agencies & parastatals under that ministry. Yet today, a full generation later, he is returning to head NIWA, an agency that now reports to a Minister occupying the very office he once held, at a time when the current Minister was probably still in the University.

For heaven’s sake, Professor Joseph Terlumun was born in 1980. He was still serving as a youth corper in 2007 when Muntari Shagari left office as Minister of Water Resources.

A reminder of the sleepless nights, the long hours of research, and the unwavering belief that knowledge can and should make a difference.

Special thanks to my family, friends, colleagues and mentors who supported me through the journey. Your encouragement kept me going through the most challenging phases.

To anyone currently in the middle of their own long, winding academic journey: take your time, stay the course, and when the moment comes, celebrate it fully—you’ve earned it.

To enhance the efficiency of the state's civil and public service sectors, our mandate was to verify and integrate nominal roll and payroll data, as well as create electronic employee files.

Equally excited to share our modest efforts in building digital infrastructure, e/governance implementation, and ICT human capital development that will stimulate the growth of our digital economy.

On the sidelines, I also led our team of young and vibrant delegates to discuss several areas of investment opportunities in Agriculture, Mining, Transportation, Technology and Innovation.

Alhamdulillah!!

I am thrilled to share the exhilarating news that I have successfully defended my doctoral thesis with minor corrections.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the support and guidance of my incredible and devoted supervisors; Professor @meadowsmaureen1, Dr. Mujahid Muhuiddin Babu, and Dr. Sena Ozdemir. Their mentorship has been a cornerstone of my doctoral experience, and I am profoundly thankful for their wisdom, encouragement, and expertise.

I am also grateful to my examiners, Professor Suraksha Gupta (External, University of London), and Dr Shazib Shaikh (Internal) for their expertise, feedback and guidance.  Special thanks to the Independent Chair, Professor Sue Charlesworth for a well moderated session.

My research journey has been an incredible adventure filled with challenges and moments of profound learning (will probably share my reflections one day).
