@craftlupical @The_mrNG The other side of the argument is consistent "AI art good because it makes cool things and artists should embrace it to improve their art" and here artists are going out of their way to prove that very point by emulating an AI image.

The replies on this make me feel insane, what are people not getting, what's not clicking... All of these iterations in protest of AI art are effectively AI-assisted art. All the notable would-be-creative decisions... composition, concept, colors, etc... are thanks to the AI.

If you do this you’re just doing fanart of AI output and profiting off of Gen AI. You can write “fuck AI” on this all you want but you are legitimizing its use and supporting Gen AI.

@craftlupical @The_mrNG The whole Shein thing is offtopic! Admittedly, it sucks that well-intentioned artists are getting the heat, but it's easier to point out hypocrisy.

@The_mrNG @craftlupical Hrm, well. Agree to disagree. It feels like a poor protest to me and isn't clear at all - using AI for art to denounce using AI for art. It just feels like a bunch of artists emulating an AI image they thought looked cool and the AI posters love to see it anyway.

@glutenacht @The_mrNG As far as Capitalism goes, we've already seen plenty of cases of AI art used, both corporate and independent. (Gen AI wrecking Etsy's digital pet portrait commission market is a good example.) Most people just generally want something that looks pretty and cool and is cheap.

@glutenacht @The_mrNG The whole trend boiled down is just artists emulating an AI image... To go "I want to draw something like this" gives it the value that used to go towards being inspired by another's craft. You're letting AI wave that pretty flag in your face... find other artists instead!
