@ashil_zz@emelaa__ Low intensity experimental friendly tournament. Ronaldo should have retired on a high.
He did so much for Portuguese football, but that doesn't mean he can play high intensity football now. He obviously couldn't in 22 or 24 either.
We will see if who is right in 28, I guess.
@emelaa__ Football is a team sport. Dioga Costa and his defenders have been sensational. The match against Spain was tedious, but defensively Portugal were great. Played well as a defensive block.
The Portuguese FA have demanded their cash cow Ronaldo played rather than compete. Sad.
@emelaa__ There is a difference between a player having a poor game or struggling under pressure and a retired great trying to relive past glories.
This is about now. Ronaldo at WC 2018 was still brilliant. He was still a top striker for 3 more years after. But 2022 was retirement year.
@ashil_zz@emelaa__ It wasn't luck. Ramos is a younger Champions League striker. Can out muscle and jump central defenders.
Ronaldo is 41. Obviously couldn't handle Ariel duels anymore. I don't blame him for not being up to the physical attributes of young men.
I do blame him for being there.
@PainNaldo@paddypower Ronaldo was awful and obviously past it. Madrid and Juve Ronaldo world class. Retired Ronaldo is pants.
Maybe Portugal playing with ten men against Colombia, Croatia and Spain is tiring and his teammates were all knackered having to do all his running for him?
@InTheTrenchesUK@williamnhutton Whoever wrote this shit needs to be unplugged and sent to recycling.
Britain is worth £13 trillion. A finite resource. Pensions, land and property is about £9 trillion. Foreign money owns much land and property. Britons owning a portion of the rest of it that is a bad thing.
@PositivFuturist Claptrap. How is 1993? To get promoted the exact opposite is true for over 30 years.
From 1994 to 2004 it was "downsizing." From 2004 to 2012 it was "efficiency savings." Since 2012 the mantra has been "do more for less."
Any expansion has been Brexit related and tiresome.
@Joel_CP_70@iamrahmanosman Happened at Italy 34 and Argentina 78. They were a bunch of corrupt fascist bastards as well.
Good thing Russia weren't that good and Qatar were garbage. Would be fifth time....... ☹️
@CPFCHQ Because losing 3-0 and 4-0 at home is a bad thing and Eze/Mateta were Brennan Johnson terrible. Vieira had to make us solid to save his job, but we became too defensive. Roy's superior coaching improved us but Ayew HAD to play every game.
@cocainsocialist@volvicstorm98 Obviously a new fan. Ayew saved us.
Olise was injured for 20 games over last two seasons and had fitness problems for other games.
Wilf preferred to play with Ayew down the middle and Olise on right. Nobody wanted to play Wilf down the middle and Ayew right.
Was bad luck
@OneMorePoint1 Yes. Thanks to Harry Kane. The moment he goes and with tougher groups. Here is the 1982 qualifying group we got out of. Imagine it with say Gibraltar and Serbia tagged on and one qualifying place. No play offs.
