This is about now. Ronaldo at WC 2018 was still brilliant. He was still a top striker for 3 more years after. But 2022 was retirement year.

From 1994 to 2004 it was "downsizing." From 2004 to 2012 it was "efficiency savings." Since 2012 the mantra has been "do more for less."

Wilf preferred to play with Ayew down the middle and Olise on right. Nobody wanted to play Wilf down the middle and Ayew right.
