@Leeds4_1Palace Fact: Leeds have won no official UEFA European trophies in their history. Palace has. Leeds FA Cup wins in past 50 years ? None. Palace 1.
RIP Bobby Tambling. 81 appearances for #CPFC and 20 goals. The first Palace player (of 10) to score goals in the top-tier, FA Cup, League Cup and European competition. His three goals in the Anglo-Italian is a (joint) club record, and (joint) second most in Europe behind Sarr.
@julianchenery I was in the Arthur Wait for that one. The first of two matches my Dad took me to. Match reports say it was a 25 yarder but these things tend to grow with time!
@Leeds4_1Palace Fortunately just enough to know that the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup was set up to promote trade fairs and isn’t recognized by either FIFA or UEFA as an official competition.
@julianchenery@Krisp06 That was his winning goal off the underside of the bar in Chelsea’s 2-1 Third Round win over holders Liverpool. It was a great team goal. Bonetti to Venables to Harris to Tambling to Graham to Tambling who headed in from 5 yards out. A lot of future Palace names there!
Tambling also holds the #CPFC record for most goals scored by a player born in West Sussex and was (I believe) Palace's first loanee player to later sign a permanent deal with the club.
