the last part got me thinking: Im not excited with the existing desktop ui so I just keep up with it, maybe it's time I actually start doing the same like you 😀
More than a year ago I was creating a panel.vala file and typing "using GLib;", today that file is part of a whole new Desktop Environment in GTK4 running on top of the labwc compositor.
I love Open Source, thanks to it, directly or indirectly, I am running a laptop with everything I like, the way I like. Everything, from the libraries to the software is exactly the way I need 🤩
A tip? If something is not the way you like... just make it the way you like.
