The NIA claimed VanDyke and team trained the insurgents and provided them military grade drones. They crossed back into India and were apprehended before they decamped. Now, months later they get a court pass to exit India without consequence.

Chirag Paswan offering prayers insde the garbhagriha of Kashi Vishwanath is a powerful image. He hs often spoken of caste discrimination and the need for reservation because social barriers still exist. If a dalit union minister can sit in the sanctum of one of Hinduism's holiest temples & perform puja, it clearly shows that temple doors are not closed. The claim that Dalits are barred from temples does not match this reality. At the very least, this should prompt an honest rethink of treating reservation as a permanent, unquestionable entitlement

Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation, was a staunch advocate of vegetarianism and ahimsa. I did not know he was "Hindutva mob" as Tunku Varadarajan characterizes.

As for the idea that serving meat and alcohol is the only "civilized eating": in America and in Europe, many thoughtful people would consider vegetarianism and ahimsa as a major contribution of Dharmic civilisation. Jainism is entirely devoted to it and so is ISKCON. They are not "Hindutva mobs".

Thirukkural has an entire chapter on not eating meat and that was over 2000 years ago.

And most Hindus do not eat meat during festive occasions, like Ganesh Chaturthi today, even those who normally eat meat.

If Varadarajan had a shred of respect for his own heritage, rather than shamlessly parading his arrogant ignorance, he would have researched all this. Instead he chooses to lecture the little brown natives to please his imagined "civilized" masters.

Finally, if Indians were to adopt the standard American diet, we do not have the land, we do not have the water, and we do not have the energy, to feed ourselves.

These were the final words of a 32-year-old father, a son, and a brilliant tactical commander.

Three years ago today, on September 13, 2023, the nation lost Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Humayun Muzammil Bhat in the treacherous heights of the Garol forest in Kokernag, Anantnag.

He didn’t just wear the uniform; he inherited it.

The son of retired Inspector General Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Humayun grew up watching his father fight militancy in the valley. Despite clearing state service exams and initially working as a social welfare officer, his true calling pulled him to the J&K Police in 2018. Known among his peers for his tactical acumen and obsession with modern combat gear, he was a leader who never led from the rear.

During a joint operation targeting Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists hiding in a high-altitude natural cave, DySP Bhat, alongside 19 RR Commanding Officer Col. Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchak, spearheaded the assault. Pushing through rugged terrain, the assault team came under heavy, anticipated fire from the fortified position.

Leading from the front, all three officers took fatal hits while attempting to neutralize the threat.
Even with a fatal gunshot wound, Humayun kept his composure. He managed a brief 13-second call to his veteran father and a final goodbye to his wife, Fatimah, leaving behind their one-month-old son, Ashar.

For his rare courage and complete disregard for personal safety in the face of heavy enemy fire, DySP Humayun Bhat was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award.

Today, as his son grows up seeing his father’s portrait and his wife builds her life as an Assistant Professor, we remember a frontline warrior who gave everything for the soil of Kashmir.
The Jammu & Kashmir Police is not just a force; it is a brotherhood of unmatched sacrifice.
