Banks are cutting PesaLink transfer fees to challenge M-Pesa.
Nineteen banks now offer free PesaLink transfers up to Sh1,000 and a flat Sh20 fee for transfers between Sh1,001 and Sh999,999.
The full list of the 19 banks is in the thread below.
Our secret cameras captured them repeatedly moving, positioning themselves strategically.

Mkuu si Wacheze hybrid precast 138 sq 3 bed 3 bath hii design … good to put plinth area…
The Hybrid Roof System gives you the best of both worlds without breaking the bank.
We live in Sub-Saharan Africa, where outdoor living is part of our lifestyle. So why choose between a mono-pitch roof and a slab roof when you can have both?
The mono-pitch roof provides a cost-effective solution and an ideal surface for harvesting solar energy, while the composite slab roof creates a functional rooftop terrace for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the outdoors.
It’s time to embrace a smarter design that balances affordability, energy efficiency, and modern outdoor living.
Final Cost Breakdown — Hybrid Precast Unit
This is the final cost breakdown for the 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom hybrid precast unit measuring 138 sqm.
The quoted shell cost is approximately KSh 17,000 per sqm, covering the precast structure, the 7-day assembly period, the mono-pitch mabati roof and the composite slab roof.
The quoted cost does not include:
◾ Sand
◾ Aggregates
◾ Cement
◾ Transport of the approximately 61-tonne unit, since delivery cost varies depending on the distance from our Gitaru factory
Everything else shown in the breakdown is included.
Interior finishes are projected to cost an additional KSh 15,000–16,000 per sqm, depending on the client’s taste, materials and level of finishing.
This brings the estimated completed cost to approximately KSh 33,000 per sqm.
For the full 138 sqm unit, the projected finished cost is approximately:
KSh 4.5 million
This remains significantly more affordable than the average maisonette construction rates indicated in the AAK cost guide.
Terms and conditions apply, especially where black cotton soil extends deeper than the standard allowance, since additional excavation, stabilisation or specialised foundation work may be required.

POLL MASTER: Inside the Secret App Politicians Used in Ol Kalou to Buy Votes.
Politicians have abandoned lists and picked up smartphones. Poll Master is a clever mobile app built by tech developers valled Illiyas Ca. It's aim is to help campaign teams manage their ground, map out voting zones, track their agents and blast out digital voting messages directly via SMs and WhatsApp.
Legally speaking, it is just a business tool. It is funded by corporate research budgets and political parties to make running an election smoother. The problem is the app mixes voter data with instant cash payouts. This combo creates a massive loophole that crooked politicians are using to hijack elections in Kenya and beyond.
Enter the Ol Kalou digital bribery. The real-world danger of this tech has exploded during the high-stakes by-elections in Ol Kalou when observers noticed a strange shift: corrupt campaign teams are using mobile apps to buy votes digitally without getting caught. The trick is brilliant but dirty. Campaign workers hit the streets in Ol Kalou, convincing residents to punch their names and phone numbers into the app. The system secretly logs these everyday voters as "independent polling agents" or "survey helpers." Once they are in, the app links directly to Safaricom's Daraja Developer Portal to trigger instant M-Pesa payments straight to the voters' phones. By labeling these outright bribes as "fieldwork expenses" or "survey rewards," politicians in Ol Kalou completely bypassed physical election cops, leaving absolutely zero paper trail.
And it's not just in Kenya; it is a global democratic crisis. Over in India, rogue political cells use platforms like Pollmaster India to attach digital cash codes right onto voting slips sent to mobile phones. Across Southeast Asia and South America, sketchy political consultants launch fake survey apps to harvest user data, hiring online "click farms" to fake public opinion polls and twist real narratives. In July 2026, the South Korean National Police launched massive crackdowns on citizens using election tracking platforms, slapping them with huge fines under strict anti-gambling laws. Meanwhile, regulators in the US, France, and Poland outright banned several election prediction networks for operating unlicensed gambling. US lawmakers even exposed campaign rings that secretly paid social media influencers to push fake political stories.
Our god-sent, holier than thou IEBC is fully asleep at the wheel as this unfolds. Even with digital corruption staring them in the face they are doing absolutely nothing. The commission is trying to police modern, tech-savvy elections using an ancient playbook from the pre-smartphone era. While the Media Council of Kenya @MediaCouncilK and data authorities scream about illegal data harvesting, the IEBC has failed to make a single rule for digital fraud.
Instead of hunting down the digital shortcodes and payment tools used by political parties, the IEBC stays completely reactive. They refuse to team up with mobile networks to track suspicious, massive waves of M-Pesa payouts on election eve. This laziness allows digital vote-buying to explode completely unchecked. Until the IEBC wakes up to the digital tricks played out in Ol Kalou, apps like Poll Master will remain a frictionless pipeline for buying democracy.

The Court has declared MOGO's loan of KSh 400,000, which ballooned to KSh 976,750, illegal.
The borrower had taken a loan of KSh 400,000 and had already repaid KSh 299,369. However, MOGO claimed he still owed KSh 677,381 and demanded a total repayment of KSh 976,750 to redeem the loan.
The Small Claims Court found that MOGO's effective interest rate of about 86.4%, together with additional charges, was exploitative and oppressive. The Court also held that MOGO failed to prove the penalties, monitoring fees, insurance fees and other amounts it claimed because it could not justify how those figures were calculated.
Applying the in duplum rule, the Court ruled that interest cannot exceed the principal amount advanced. It rejected MOGO's inflated claim and entered judgment for only KSh 100,631, the outstanding balance after deducting the borrower's repayment plus court-rate interest and costs.

The High Court has ordered Safaricom and DTB to pay a customer Ksh. 4.42 million that was fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account following a SIM swap fraud. The customer reported the unauthorized SIM swap to Safaricom immediately, but before the issue was resolved, fraudsters accessed her DTB mobile banking account and transferred Ksh. 4,418,601 through a series of unauthorized transactions.
Both Safaricom and DTB appealed after the lower court found them jointly liable, with each arguing that the other was solely responsible for the loss. The High Court dismissed both appeals, holding that each organization owed its own independent duty of care to the customer and could not escape liability by shifting blame to the other.
The Court found that Safaricom failed to adequately prevent and respond to the unauthorized SIM swap, while DTB failed to detect and stop suspicious high-value transactions despite obvious red flags. It upheld the lower court's decision, ordering Safaricom to bear 60% of the loss and DTB 40%, reaffirming that organizations handling personal data and digital financial services must take proactive steps to protect customers from fraud.
