Other countries and cultures have entirely different ideas of successful. For the US, money = success. We focus on individualism rather than collectivism.

All around us is media we consume that makes us think all we need to do is work harder to be successful, and we can be just like them. I’m referring to a base difficulty for humans to think outside their worldview without someone to properly challenge it. Even still, if your whole life revolves around an ideology (capitalism), resistance is difficult.

I don’t want people’s ability to vote taken away in those areas though, it’s a slippery slope, and their intelligence isn’t their fault. But I believe the sheriff’s role has a lot more implications and potential public harm.

As a result, people struggle to think objectively, or lack the knowledge to make an educated decision on what proper policing is (that’s not their fault).

@saveoursheriff In a position designed to uphold the law, when you go against the spirit of those laws, it doesn’t make law abiding citizens feel safe. It makes them feel paranoid. That is an unavoidable aspect of the job that any respectable sheriff recognizes. Be respectable, Swank.
