This is the danger of left-wing moral relativism.

Leftists will often invert the core tenet of morality because they think there is no objective good or evil.
They will give endless "understanding" for the guilty, and give endless excuses as to why the criminals victimize the innocent... poverty, trauma, “systemic” reasons...

Then they will condemn the victim, often blaming them for being victimized in the first place. At times, they will blame them for maybe being "racist" or perhaps the criminal just didn't "understand".

... and yes, the leftists who promote this kind of thinking are invariably evil.
