I took a break from teacher twitter for a couple months but I am back just to say how much I love @Jennifer_Manly! And if you don't follow her already you should. She's pretty much my idol. That's all. Good night! ❤
@Jennifer_Manly You are 100% invited! It would be so fun for the kids to see someone else's face and voice 🙏🏼😀 I think at least for my algebra 2 students there would be some interest!!!
I always love that first snow day in the classroom when some kid yells "It's snowing, look!" and we all stop to look out the window. Well, I was that kid today! I was on virtual office hours when the snow started and I told them "Go to the nearest window right now and look!" 💞❄
Spotted in my alg 1 zoom chat today!!! My students are working so hard!! Teachers, I know we are working so hard but so are these kiddos. I'm giving credit where it is due! 👏🏻
Going to therapy makes me a better teacher.
I share more about it, as well as links to resources to help other teachers find a therapist, in this blog for @teachbetterteam that was published today: https://t.co/enqdS45B6K

@scmaestra So I agree it is more individualistic. However I get to see what every kid is thinking, instead of just the few who are comfortable speaking up. I have a much better feel for where everyone is at.
@scmaestra I think it's helped my kids speak up! They get think time and can record their thoughts, then when I call on them they feel more confident speaking up. I've heard some voices I didnt hear at all first quarter since using pd more. Group work has been tough in math, time-wise.
Besides battling Synergy late into the night last night I had such a good week. I made a lot of changes for my Algebra 1 kiddos and I already see it paying off. I'm riding this good wave into Thanksgiving break. Happy Friday everyone 💓
However, this is my reminder to start next week with sending a few exclusively positive emails. I've seen some of my freshmen really turn it around and put their nose to the grindstone for week 1 of quarter 2 and I'm impressed!
Trying to do a better job following up with parents and students this quarter re: arriving at zooms very late or leaving very early, struggling to complete in class assignments, etc. Just trying to take more initiative communicating with families so I know what's up.
