@Mishort11 Yes I understand that. I feel that our coaching of certain players has really limited their positive impact and that's a shame. He's one of them. But if what we have been getting is what we are going to keep getting, I'd rather see what someone else can do with that opportunity.
Keep seeing Richmond fans stating that it'll be better when our injured players come back and they all list Rioli as one of the first on the list. I don't see how he makes us better at all. In fact I think he makes us worse.
@BorisPingPong Yeah he has a strength in his defensive pressure but for me I want to see him be cleaner with his possessions and disposals. We've given him a lot of opportunity and the club claiming we are getting more bang for buck now feels disingenuous.
@Hawtproper Campbell is already spending time in the midfield and NRT has just about as many goals in 2 games as Rioli has all year.
Chasing and tackling is all well and good but his disposals need to be a lot cleaner if he's only going to get it 10 times a game.
@Mishort11 If he did kick goals I'd be a lot more in favour of him being selected.
At the moment he's a chase and tackle bot and maybe 10 touches a game. I think we should get more than that for a guy with this much experience and opportunity.
@TigerAncient Yeah we will be a lot better once the big names come back or new guns get established for sure. We looked very slow and disorganised yesterday though.
@LeTigre_12 I respectfully think differently to you on this matter. I think it's fine for you to hold an opinion that is contrary to mine. Neither your opinion or mine will have any bearing on his selection.
@crazyjoedevola Sydney are quite good. They're disciplined and trust a player will be where they are expected to be. They got their hands on the footy and didn't relinquish it. Richmond looked well off the pace. Always outnumbered. Always pressured. No real system of ball movement.
This is bleak.
Cannot get any of the ball. Always outnumbered. Always pressured. They waltz around and have options wherever they look.
Our set-up is no good and our workrate is half theirs.
I'm sure a lesser known player will get dropped though so all sorted.
This set up obviously isn't working so I wonder what else we could try. Don't see much value in Prestia soaking up midfield minutes. Ross is trying very hard but is quite a limited player. Taranto doesn't seem to be at his peak.
Lots of guys simply not getting the ball.
Our midfield group is getting dominated which should not be a big surprise. They're better and more organised.
Our turnover rate when we do get the ball is disheartening. We work so hard to get the ball then give it right back.
Always outnumbered, always trailing the ball.
@JExodus21 Yep and while the amount of injuries this season has spread our list pretty thin most of the returning players shouldn't be walk up starts. This is particularly true when the player filling the void have worked hard and improved
I would like to see my club start to normalise players returning from injury via the VFL. Big ticket stars naturally might be immune but otherwise get some match fitness up and some form before joining the seniors.
The umpires might need to be instructed to start looking for people staging again. Some super soft frees and 50m penalties rocking around the game at the moment
