Finally got some time to work on Samus' rig again
Still got a lot of stuff to do and I think once I have all the poses setup I'll make a 2nd pass to try and push everything to 11.
There is also no corrective stuff for now so some poses don't play too well together.
@awesomekling@TheGingerBill@ladybirdbrowser I feel like vertical tabs are nice with good support for grouping and pining tabs
I really like how it's done in Zen and Arc but I find it's a pain on most other browsers
After 5 years of trial and error trying to make games in a custom engine, I've finally made something that isn't just a glorified hello world triangle!
3 days until Terrafactor releases on Steam!!!
@henningsanden oh man this takes me back, I remember failing to follow that one over and over
Pretty sure there were points where I was trying to measure the distance between vertices in the picture to try and reproduce them exactly on my end lol
@henningsanden@jadel4w Obviously not everyone will find that balance
But if someone feels guilty about pursuing something they enjoy because they feel like they should spend their time improving at their craft, there's a good chance they won't actually enjoy doing that for a living and will stagnate
@henningsanden@jadel4w It's also worth thinking whether you really want to do this as a job
I initially wanted to do Character Art but the grind was killing me
As I shifted to technical roles, I did tons of experiments at home out of fun, improved very fast and not a second of it felt like grinding
I was just explaining the dot product to my son today! It's used everywhere in games, often with unit vectors to determine how aligned they are.
But if it’s never really clicked for you, this thread is full of visual examples.
My comprehensive 45-hour long video course on math for 3D/games programmers is out.
If you want a hands-on approach to math BUT still want to understand what is going on under the hood, this might be for you.

This indie dev spent 1,400+ days building his game, Tangy TD, completely from scratch in C++.
Seeing him and his wife react after the game earned $250,000 in its first week after launch is honestly beautiful.
Reminder that I wrote a linear algebra cheat sheet on various topics that you can print a few years ago. People still buy it from time to time. Link below
Over the past year we've helped over 100 artists update their portfolios after being laid off by giving them access to our tools free of charge. We've decided to make our Layoff Assistance Program a permanent part of our business! https://t.co/Dag9yrAVZw

Outer Wilds is now on sale on Steam with its biggest discount yet.
To those who've explored the stars, when did the loop click for you?

@Mobius_Games
@henningsanden@rhurrey Also, notice how well the topology of the mask and outfit align with the face/neck topology
This is crucial for making the different meshes deform well together and things are not often enough modeled that way
Neat #Maya add-on BlendShape Monitor 1.0 helps troubleshoot complex character rigs by displaying the influence of individual shapes as color-coded heatmaps in the viewport
Works for facial and full-body rigs

@henningsanden It's such a better way to learn as well
I can't count the number of times I randomly show something new to my colleagues in the office but that never happens when we're working remotely
The idea of a "quick call" is always daunting but it's always nice to swing by someone's desk
