Mohamed Salah was right not to show up. What does he owe them? He gave the game 57 goal contributions in a title-winning season. Broke records in the most unforgiving league on the planet. Scored or assisted in more than half of Liverpool’s goals. He’s the reason the Reds won the #PremierLeague so convincingly.

And they gave him fourth.

Above him? A teenager who managed fewer goal contributions across an entire season than #Salah had in December alone. Seven goals and five assists in a single month, more than Lamine Yamal's full campaign. The numbers are embarrassing, and not for Salah.

He did it in the Premier League, where even the bottom clubs punch back. Not Ligue 1, not La Liga, where space comes cheaper and top-team goals flow. Salah never hid. Never coasted. He’s carried his side for years, set the standards, and still gets treated like a sideshow.

It’s not a surprise. This is the same award that snubbed Thierry Henry in his prime and has never once put Salah in the top three. It is not built to honour players like him. It’s built to sell a story.

Salah didn’t lose anything by staying away. The Ballon d’Or lost the chance to be taken seriously. Again.

🔴 Liverpool Are Top for a Reason - So Why Pretend Otherwise?

#LFC sit top of the league and still the knives are out. Four wins from four, goals coming when needed, a manager adjusting in real time, and a team bedding in a reshaped spine while carrying the memory of a lost teammate. And yet, what gets the airtime is when the goals go in, not why they go in.

Late goals don’t expose a flaw; they confirm belief. This is a side that works through the match, probes, adapts, and when it matters most, finishes. It’s not luck. It’s not chaos. It’s control. Control of rhythm, of shape, of game state.

Critics focus on what isn’t there, flair in every moment, 5-0 scorelines, attacking abandon, and ignore what is: structure, repeatability, and clear evolution. They talk about the timing of goals like it’s a trick, not the product of a system designed to wear teams down.

Yes, Liverpool have their vulnerabilities. But so does every side this season, especially the so-called challengers who are praised for defending deep or nicking set-piece wins. Those same standards become sticks when applied to this squad.
