@TamaraGilkes @ProfTDee @urbaninstitute School-level data for SY 20-21 shows that students moving out of state, enrolling in private school, or initiating homeschooling accounted for about half of HI's decline, suggesting that many students may have delayed formal schooling during the first year of the pandemic.

This set of results is important for at least two reasons:

First, these findings clearly demonstrate that large numbers of children experienced developmentally consequential changes in their learning environments during the pandemic.
