@IvorEuropean@dairymanNZ First, Muslim is not an ethnicity. Secondly, 'slaughter' is very specifically the severing of the blood vessels, nobody else on that chain needs to be Muslim.
@JG_moves_NZ@farmgeek I haven't read anything recent but my understanding is yes, but it doesn't matter. I.e societal costs encompass more than govt balance sheet but that the subset of costs that maps to govt spending still outweighs any tax revenue.
@Kiwi_Wander@tauhenare Calm your tits. One can think what they did was wrong and should be punished without thinking it was deserving 7 times harsher penalty than ever given in nz parliament.
@PaulineArn57561@ClintVSmith There are proven, with better ROI, ways to deal with it but it's largely ignored by politicians, across the spectrum, because it involves early intervention and dealing with intergenerational issues which doesn't satisfy the publics need to punish them
@ajthompson13@TVONENZ@TVNZ@nzherald you are missing "that I'm aware of". Sudden death in young athletes has been known to be higher than in the average population for a long time, and males higher than females. https://t.co/8KUoVyoqXg https://t.co/reJkEYFyl1 https://t.co/g8uYSaYuGl
@Rational91@ClintVSmith Life long tax receiver doesn't mean never contribute. Costly spent his life in the airforce, which is fully tax funded. Are you suggesting they don't contribute?
@ajthompson13 Alcohol doesn't turn into sugar. Ethanol is mainly converted into acetaldehyde then into acetic acid which is turn becomes acetyl-CoA. Sugar is often turned into alcohol though.
